Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Looney tunes show daffy is absolutely my favorite iteration of him. A shame we'll probably never see tina again, I liked her and daffys dynamic and was a fitting counterpart to lola.

Honeslty I like this show. It was intresting. Daffy Duck and Lola stole the show for me. I liked Tina too. She was a good original character

Maybe I should give this show another shot, since I treated it like Sonic Boom back when it was on CN. I thought it was OK, but it could have been a lot better.
I probably gave this short shrift. Maybe I should give it another chance. When you reboot something like Looney Tunes, though, you are practically begging for a beating. It's so unlikely you'll ever achieve the grandeur of the original.

Ironically I would say that the first season played it a bit too safe by trying to keep some notes from the shorts and being more "kid" oriented. But as season 2 treated it as a sitcom just starring the looney tunes they found proper footing. I'll be honest it'll probably be a good while before it hits any cult status.

I've been Rewatching rocket power on streaming (and the high seas since only the first 20 rps are uploaded legitimately though to be honest those are like the "good" eps)

And looking back while it is definitely a product of its time aka that late 90s-y2k extreme era, that kinda is why it has a nostalgic charm to me.

I can remember liking the show so much it actually made me wanna get into skateboarding... Unfortunately I never really learned how.

Ah well I'll always have the show, no mater what opl John enter says

Something that popped up a couple of days ago; apparently Hannah Daigle (creator of Satina) has released a new short through Scumhouse Studio.
I have to admit, the artstyle looks like a cross between Chowder and Flapjack so there’s a lot of nostalgic appeal for me. As a gag cartoon, it has a lot of energy behind it and is pretty smooth animation wise. On a side note, Brock Baker (the OG voice of Stolas) voices the lead character Felonious.
Overall a pretty fun cartoon, can’t wait to see where it and the studio go.

Looks pretty cool, but it definitely makes me wonder if we'll ever see Amelia and Hazel again
I've seen some people theorize that the show might take place in the 80's, so if anything the season might end with us seeing Amelia actually get on the train. It'd make a good jumping on point too if HBO Max ever decide to commission more seasons down the line

Only half of what was originally intended; what a goddamn waste of a perfectly good show and concept on CN/HBO Max’s part.
I could check out what the others might work on but it makes me lose a bit more faith in the industry.
The future of the industry seems like it'll entirely rely on if a show can get funding on the internet.

Reminder that Lucky Luke is a Chinlet in canon.

On the topic of future animation being funded online, here’s something related and not related to this thread.

Years back, an animator by the name of Jiwook Kim (also the wife of Patrick McHale) released a short for Frederator Studios entitled Blackford Manor.
Sadly the short was never picked up for a full series, despite there being animatics for a second installment.

Cut to February this year and Kim, under the name J.W. Grey, is bringing Blackford back in the form of an illustrated YA novel series. The Kickstarter for the books have long since passed its goals, meaning we’ll be seeing them soon.

I kind of wish it was still animated but I’m just glad that someone salvaged their idea after Too Cool Cartoons fizzled out and continuing the story on their own terms. And hey, if fellow Cartoon Hangover short DeadEndia could get a Netflix deal after years as a comic, there’s always a chance Blackford Manor can return to animation.
