There was a pretty sad attempt by Big Finish to cancel Lovecraft a few months back. Colin Baker tells Lovecraft to his face that he's the last historical figure the Doctor ever wanted to meet. A stunning non sequitur. Even ignoring the TV show, the Big Finish Doctor has faced Nazis, Davros, Omega, and (yes) Lovecraftian gods bent on eradicating all humans in the worst way possible, but this scribbler is too much even for him.

I mean, the old joke about elves being twinks has been around ever since Tolkien's artist made Legolas a bishie. There probably was supposed to be a double entendre there.
