Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

gotta love the first comment "that's trump's fault".
I’d “love” to see their logic to that besides rent free.
Still sucks the show got canned due to weird circumstances like this, even if I was never a fan of the show. And I do think it’s eerie that the characters created by the one black creator never appear in the anti racist promotions.

Plus it literally had a Captain Planet crossover with an environmental end.

I reminded myself of this again. Poor Stephen Hillenburg. They'll never stop milking his sponge...
Speaking of creators getting screwed over, my heart forever goes out to Hillenberg. Nick keeps wringing the sponge and what’s worse is that people have been vehemently defending it.
Eh, I think it went too far on the whole crossover thing.
One of the reasons I couldn’t get into it. It was cute at first then just became too indulgent on the creator’s part.

Speaking of which....

trump lives rent free in their minds.
also, what generation of shows if almost everything gets sent to hbo max?
unless you're talking of the upcoming preeschool shows...

i usually visit the anime superhero (ex toonzone) formus and sometimes i'd like to bash my head for certain users and their takes.

Anything particularly interesting, take-wise?

- regarding andy signore that wrote an aricle on fandom wire about the live action avatar: the last airbender series that got stalled - well, he's a sex pest, so he might have lied on everything.
- linking things like bounding into comics or the videos of clownfish tv is looked down. one user got blasted when they linked a bounding into comics article, because bic is aLt-RiGtH.
- the entire existence of sweetshop209, over focused on posting useless shit over preschool cartoons.
- another user i dislike is pf9, with his obsession of big corporations buying eveything under the sun. there was another one, lowell, but this one was way more moderate.
- the fact that some users believe that the live action powerpuff girls series won't be a dumpster fire.

I think it was supposed to reference how old CN show use to crossover. Difference is that most of them would at most have 2 crossover at max in their lifetime.

Well it could also be, and hear me out on this cuz talk about CRAZY *ahem*..... Over half of the generation's cartoons. SUCKED. And were going to get cancelled one way or another. It's not Trump, it's showbiz. If you'd stop stretching your soyhole over every fag flavor of the month getting featured to save ratings long enough to learn about it, you'd know that and get over it. 🚬

There's crossovers and there's cameos. Grim adventures had a shit ton of cameos and only one legitimate crossover with KND. OK KO, IIRC had more crossovers than cameos because they were featured front and center in marketing. Ian JQ got so desperate for popularity to the point Sonic the goddamn Hedgehog crossed over (and I'm pretty sure it was after Sonic Boom got canned) and even that couldn't save him! It's a shame his first try failed but he's skilled enough to come back someday. Way more than his Hawaiian banjo-strumming wife.

Apparently it was Trump delaying the deal that caused it to be cancelled hence the outrage in the tweets.. That's what I heard anyway, I didn't really care enough about OK KO to look into it.

What I heard is that government was only indirectly involved in the whole delay. If Trump was involved it was more of a Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon sort of way, rather than him personally killing the show himself. Still ridiculous to blame a president for a mediocre cartoon getting cancelled when there are way more important things to worry about.

Although, Yamma Damma’s statement has some merit; the should had a lot of flaws and was nowhere as popular as CN’s other shows even with promotion. If a show like Infinity Train got the boot, I’m not sure KO would have lasted longer on the service. Especially with the weird direction CN/HBO Max is going.

The thing is that OK KO was more of a personal project (in someways even more so than SU) that didn't really appeal to anyone. It's got superheroes...but the fights are all floaty. It's got lore...but it's not that interesting. It's got an interesting artstyle...that is deliberately overly simplified for children to draw (IIRC anyway). I liked the Sonic crossover, but that was more for Sonic in a 2D cartoon setting for the first time in decades more than anything. I'm sure Ian will bounce back regardless.

I can read, starborn. I'm stating the fact that there have been dumber and crazier reasons for cancellations of a show besides network deals getting fucked with.

by the way @woowie queen, can you elaborate on this bit?

BiC is pretty one-sided so I could understand (and still call the panty-twisting over it retarded) but why ClownfishTV? They're as milquetoast as reporting entertainment industry news and drama gets. And they have to remind people they're liberals ala tim pool. Maybe it's geeky's shrill voice?

so, the bic article that got linked one time was about that mangaka that went to jail recently for his sexual misconduct. a pretty innocent article.
but one staffer went and said "bounding into comics isn't a reputable source, get a better article" or something like that.
(i probably should go to screenshot that and the andy signore take.)
and for clownfishtv, tbh, i dunno, some of their videos are enjoybale. but i agree over geeky's voice, she gets a bit too unbearable at times.
