I'm aware of the "Kazoku" thing, hence why I say it is a word for family. What? No its not. Family in japanese is "Kazoku", I'm pretty sure about that. (Don't mistake it with "Kaizoku" though, which means sea pirate)

JapanDict Japanese dictionary - Definition of 眷族
Definition of 眷族. Click for more info and examples: けんぞく - kenzoku - (one's) family, dependents, household

There's also a bunch of mushy shit about how its true meaning is "true friendship; family that you choose for yourself" that reminds me of the infamous "Nakama" debate, but I'll just stick to the literal definition for the time being.眷族 - けんぞく
1: (one's) family, dependents, household
2: follower, retainer, underling
