Well, I can't answer for all of them, but here's my answer: I don't feel any responsibility at all for the gay community because I am, by choice, thoroughly alienated from it, and I won't countenance anyone in my life who takes part in it. I've spent my entire life mortified at them actually, even when they're on their best behavior. I still hold a mean grudge because the west coast out-and-proud gays use their privilege to broadcast their depravity far and wide without consequence -- for themselves. No solidarity, no consideration for optics, no attempt to send a dignified message. Gays in rural America, small cities, etc. have been getting fucked over by them for years, and if they had a voice, the community would probably look very different. E.g., gay pride in Japan looks very different than it does in the US, to my understanding.

That being said, to say there aren't voices in the gay community who will call this out is just not true. There will be a backlash to this from inside, Brett's name will be mud, and people will be furious at "Cream City." But they're going to be speaking from within their own cliques, and their voices won't appear on your radar.
