You don't need consent to describe someone's physical characteristics. And yes, you are permanently tied to your life history.

What is a "female-identified girl"? You can be "female-identified" but not a girl? What is a "nonbinary wlw"? You can be non-binary but a woman at the same time? What is a "queer wlw"? Doesn't "wlw" imply "queer" already? Did they have a minimum word count for the description and just threw in random words?

It's more of the magical thinking that comes from troonery. You need to make at least a token attempt to change your gender for the above "born again" to work. Non-binary is an extension of that; it's for women who want the benefits of trooning or membership in the gender cult, but they don't want to be a man. Of course, some NB's don't want to be women either, hence the shedding of your old life.

I thought "The End of Gender" was an extremely engaging read, even if it's really just a long essay in the form of a book. She's pissing of both radfems and troons, so I think she's doing something right. It's funny that she's so controversial - she's basically just saying that there are also biological foundations for behaviour as well as sociological. I thought that we were over the "nature vs nurture"-debate and had acknowledged this a long time ago, but that just shows how much I know.

They went from "we know sex and gender are different!!1! no one is trying to erase sex!!!" to "acknowledging sex is literal violence" real quick.

It's fucking insane how what is considered acceptable language changes several times within a year. I remember it went from being, "sex and gender are different, trans people are biologically [male/female] but their gender identity is the opposite", to "don't say biological, you should say they have the body of a [male/female]", so flat out stealing intersex terminology (AMAB/AFAB and CAMAB/CAFAB), to deciding that biological sex is an arbitrary product of colonialism and gender identity matters more (even though their goddess Judith Butler was the one who proposed gender was a social construct), and now transwomen have decided they're the only people who matter so now people are pressured to disclose if they're "TME" (transmisogyny exempt) or "TMA" (transmisogyny affected) instead of male/female or "cis"/trans.

I think the distrust of the medical community is the oddest, saddest thing about a lot of trans discourse because it's encouraging the whole community to think doctors are trying to hurt them by treating their physical body as it exists.

It's weird how they both seem to hate and love doctors at the same time. They're against "gatekeeping" (AKA screening if people are actually mentally well enough to know what hormones even do) and consider any therapy that doesn't blindly validate someone's gender identity to be on par with gay conversion therapy, but at the same time the moment someone expresses discomfort with their body or sexuality they NEED to transition ASAP or else they'll kill themselves.

Ironically, while transmedicalists used to be the side on the trans debate that made somewhat more sense, the fact most of them trust doctors too much is why I find them annoying.

She's supportive of teenagers and adults medically transitioning but also knows that puberty blockers are dangerous, and is fine with transwomen using women's public restrooms but not private biological female-only spaces or rape shelters. But I guess when it comes to supporting the troons it's either all or nothing...

Debra Soh made a really good point that the activism science, regardless of the political stance, isn't really science at all. It's just political dogma masquerading as something scientific. Which I find true because neither side, (even though a lot of the GC Feminists and RadFems are quite logical and rational individuals) can really back up the claim of "gender is a social construct" or even properly define it. It all just goes back to talking points relating to terms like "capitalism", "cis heternormative patriarchy", "male supremacy", etc.

Debra has been quite vocal about being against transactivism and supporting those who are against it and disagree with it. She's also completely against MTF's playing in women's sports and the redefining of lesbians by others who aren't lesbians (namely AGP "transbians"). Just because you don't 100% agree with everything she's said doesn't mean she completely supports the ideology.

I haven't read this book. But I am a parent.

Parents who pay any attention at all to their kids KNOW that boys and girls play with toys differently. They socialize differently. They act differently. They are born different from each other; regardless of any "nurture", there is first and foremost "nature". Because XY males and XX females are biologically different, the end.
