To head a derailment that started here off at the pass, this is a thread where we can bitch (heh) and debate about pet owners, animal abusers, and just our own experiences with pets in general, both good and bad. Post pics and videos if you want!

What started the whole thing was me sperging about the lack of training on display all over the Internet when it comes to dogs. At the root of the problem is people don't seem to treat dogs (or indeed, any animal these days) like animals and instead like little retarded people. This leads to animals developing aggressive mannerisms or even anxiety disorders as domestic animals have been bred to be as obedient and/or stupid as possible. Then people wanted the thread to be less depressing, so I figured what the hell. Here's some videos I found.

Service dog training is hard.

Britbong news channel illustrating my point.

Palate cleanser with baby goats!

A cat with some serious skills.

Honestly nothing has made me more angry than this episode of it's me or the dog. Sometimes I think about this, and remember most people shouldn't even have pets. Also makes the argument for being pro eugenics because some people's genes do not deserve to go on.

Whenever I've encountered a badly behaved dog it's invariably a woman owner/woman primary caregiver. I know there must be shitty dudes with shitty behaved dogs but I cannot deny my lived experience.

Ah, Victoria Stillwell. I come from the more dominance-based Cesar Milan school of thought, but I can't deny she's a good trainer in her own right and she's absolutely right about shock collars and other bullshit training aids. She is wrong at the end, though. It's possible for the dog to repair his relationship with the owner's brother, but the brother (and by extension the family) needs to buckle down and stop acting like an ass and it'll take months at the least. At least they picked a good breed for what the owner expected, so points there.

It's because men tend to be calmer with animals in general. Women usually get more emotional about it which can stress out the animal. Usually when you see bad male dog owners it's because they either have some 600 pound monster they wrestled and did dumb shit with when it was smaller and now it thinks wrestling and doing dumb shit is a fun game, or they abused the poor thing.

I thought this was going to be a thread full of cute kittens and puppies and now I'm sad.
Here's a palate cleanser, my friend. Baby goats never fail to cheer me up.

I know plenty of guys that get a big dog because they think it makes them look more masculine and all they do is leave the poor thing locked up and then they get mean to the animal when its howling and crying while locked up. I've fought a neighbor over this once, I told the fucker to walk his fucking dog because its howling was starting to bother everyone else.

Another thing is when people get Huskies and other breeds that have thick coats and they make them live in the south and they'll leave the fucking dog outside in the heat. It drives me fucking nuts

I was gonna sperg about my new puppy but I guess not.
I expected cute pets and now I've to think about bad/insane owners and about that many people got pets because of lock-down, that they'll get rid of once everything's open again.
Maybe I should just change the thread to just a general pet sperging thread then. It seems to be a popular request.

Big dogs need tons of exercise. The fat speds who buy them don't seem to realize that. If you want to compensate for your tiny dick and huge belly, just buy a gun. It won't care when you neglect it.

Don't even get me started on the types of bullshit people do to huskies. They are badass looking dogs but they need to be a colder climate and exercised like crazy.

EDIT: And changed. Now we can sperg about pets positively, I guess? A victory for good taste!

I'm coming back to this thread later, but in the meantime I'm seconding the desire for a title change or something because I definetely see the need for a "Bad pet owners on the internet" thread but also want it seperate from cute animal sperging.

I love how the owner's brother happily talks about how he terrorizes the dog and gets met with the chimp sign of aggression:

That brother is such a fucking manchild though. Guaranteed he's never gotten his ass kicked for being a shithead.

That smug fucking smile on his face makes me want to rehome his teeth.

I'm back with a bunch of things. Videos are getting tucked into spoilers so they don't crash mobile.

Pet YouTuber Soda Pets' series on TikTok animal abuse
Misc YouTube videos on tiktok "trends"

If you see a man with a Chihuahua, RUN. Exclusively shitty people have such a "dog" that make them even more of a fag. The rats are pure evil too, if they aren't straight up retarded.

Having anything with flat noses is animal abuse, the poor things suffer by just living

well anyways, cats are really cute
I agree, but I like animals you can cage or train Cats don't fit into that. Here's a fun story: cats aren't actually domesticated animals. They were great at keeping vermin and birds away from stored food, so people just let them hang out because they were useful. As time went on, people just sort of started taking the wild cats for granted and bringing them in the house to get them out of the cold and to guarantee service. It helped they were never really big enough to do much immediate damage to humans (their filthy claws are another story) and people just got used to having cats hang around in their house.

I actually like that, cats just don't trust or like everyone and you have to build up a bond with them, even then they are have their moods and their own personality but dogs make me kind of uncomfortable as they are so predictable, and just like you outright due to their programming so it feels more shallow.

Both are cute pets but i feel more empathy for cats as companions, my family had a dog and they can be very energy draining, i like dogs for only a little while, like when you pet some other person's dog for a few minutes and thats it. I guess its similar of how i feel with people that are too extroverted.

Fun fact: Cat claws, so long as they've been recently sharpened, are actually pretty clean. Cat claws grow in little cones (a cross-section looks like a tree). When they sharpen their claws, they're actually popping off the topmost layer of claw and revealing the brand-new, clean and smooth layer beneath.

Put another way, if you cut your cats claws like you would with a dog, it creates little grooves where bacteria, etc. can hang out. Nasty.
On that note: Cutting your cat's claws is gross, getting them declawed is inhumane. If you can't deal with the fact that they're wild animals (Like @EnemyStand pointed out) then don't get a fucking cat. Get a rabbit or a dog or something.
On a personal note, I like feral kitties more than domesticated kitties. I grew up with wild cats around and whenever I meet something like a persian they seem retarded in comparison.

Cats are mostly good pets for people that aren't/can't be home much. Once you get the set up done, it usually takes care of itself. My lack of enthusiasm for cats is also partially pragmatic: I'm a miniature war gamer, so I like to leave my projects out when I'm working on them. Cats give no fucks, they'll knock my half complete projects around even if it isn't doing it on purpose.

Dogs drain energy because nearly every single dog breed was created with some form of work in mind, so it takes more personal investment. It's rewarding, but can be a pain in the ass much of the time. That's why I always laugh when I see some fat ass talking about getting some massive beast from the Sport or Working group.

That's mostly because they are. The breeding for them dulled their instincts so they act dopier.
