I feel like he's lost his relevance. He's stepped down from his soapbox, I don't see him being very interesting after this. To each his own but I don't feel like laughing at some inconsequential dickweed. Unless he's been diddling kids with Danny or abusing the dogs I don't think I care anymore. It's not his abhorrent opinions that brought me here, it was the abuse of this title. His next employer is going to be Best Buy. It depends on where he winds up in the next while, but yeah, you have a point. If he no longer has a position of significance in either sports or academia (and it certainly looks like he's bailed on sports for the foreseeable), he's just another twitter tranny. I'm pretty sure most intersex women don't want a delusional man speaking for them. Transgender has nothing to do with intersex, despite the troons latching on to that as some kind of cover for their deviancy. Well, he was easier to get rid of than I thought. They barely had to even try. How many high fives do you think they swapped when they stepped out of the room to "discuss this with our superiors" when he indicated he was accepting the first offer like that? Were there hugs? Personally, as long as he continues to pass himself off as a mythic champion of women’s _anything_, and goes out of his way to slander and vilify genuine feminist activists like Kathleen Stock or Magdalen Berns, I’ll keep my sights trained firmly on him & will take any shots I think are likely to hit home. He is a gloating misogynist and a danger to women as long as he’s continuing publicly to feed the erasure of sex-based rights, to keep hulking bully-boys like himself robbing women athletes of their fair places, all that shit. I don’t mind admitting that my loathing for him is completely personal. He got 40k. His regular salary is 65k. University fiscal years align with state fiscal years which is probably starts in September. Rhys is working until either the beginning or middle of May. 2/3rds of the year. That amount is basically his prorated salary.
The university was so happy to get rid of him they basically throw out the rule about having to come back from sabbatical. Well played Rhy, you crafty SOB.

Maybe I'm being too hopeful but I don't think he's getting any more interviews or op-eds. He certainly won't be getting any papers published but there is always a book to worry about. However, I think that unless he starts drawing comics or some other easily-digestible cutesy bullshit, his relevancy is over. He has a history of being a particularly dangerous misogynist but I honestly think that now he's just another unemployed philosophy PhD. Those people manage a Starbucks. I wouldn't mind more seasons of Rhys so long as they're interesting. Here's hoping that they're not.

It's much easier to get mainstream press attention when you're an employed academic than a barely published "former academic" at age 39. Even if what those people want to talk to you about is not your field or your academic work but one of your hobbies. Rather than going "here to talk about trans athletes, is a trans athlete" they get to go "here is a professor of philosophy" which creates credibility.
No one in academia will give a shit about his papers now. They’ll just be the random rants of a lunatic. I suspect he’s moving as soon as his sabbatical was scheduled to end, ie April 30. He’ll be back here for our may holiday. I wait with trepidation to find out where he will be based.
