General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I ran into this clip from Mea:

She's the only vtuber I've heard discuss the sex-work adjacent nature of vtubing. She compares it to being a cabaret club girl, because her earnings are directly dependent on how much her clients like her. Have any of the other girls talked about this or expressed discomfort in deriving their income from what is essentially camgirling?
Kind of weird you keyed into some apparent sexual aspect of what she said, but every form of art and performance is whoring yourself out to strangers. Even Bob Ross was selling glimpses into his personal happy place to get where he got. This is how people like Pochi and Ina were able to make the transition pretty easily, it's really no different than what they do with their art. Having your living based on entertaining people is pretty emotionally grueling though, not everyone is cut out for it and the ones that are need their breaks.

Pochi-sensei is hosting another meme stream.
It’s fascinating to see the different meme culture over there. It’s like Coco’s shitpost review except we’re the guest.
It's been a great opening act for Meme Review too. I hope Pochi and Not Son are getting some algo action from it.

Looks like Gura is not a frequent ReeeeEra poster. I could actually imagine her browsing the farms, considering her infosec and she's dropped a couple comments I'll keep to myself so not to scare her off if she's actually a poster.

Another ENVtuber graduation was announced, this time for Shirogane Yui.

Based on this tweet, seems likely that the Niji audition worked out.

She said she felt like she was "worse than cabaret club girl", which is a nightlife industry job. Similarly I don't think really listened to what she said either. She does a part time job not because streaming is hard, but because she feels the need to have an honest job because the money she gets from streaming doesn't feel like money she "earned".

Can you imagine making it to the final audition for hololive then getting cut? Crushing. I wonder who the various finalists were for each of the generations.

They're buskers who aren't selling their bodies or the image of their bodies, I don't see that as at all connected to sex work or camgirling.

Yes, I understood that. It is like being a hostess in a way, but that's not a bad thing, it's like any entertainer. If she finds vtubing distasteful because someone could attach the camgirl label to it, she might be happier with something else? Same could be said to you if it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Anyhow, Okayu:

And Ayame mad apparently can suplex her father and put fists through walls. That little spit-fire is not one I want to cross.
Wait, what? When did she talk about that?

Is that why she giggles all the time now, like one of those martial arts masters who can kill so they just laugh everything off, rather than risk getting angry?

I don't think we can say that categorically. Sure we don't see their *actual* bodies, but the same is true of people who do phone sex, and yet we would all agree those are "sex workers". There is certainly more to their content than just sex, but they do absolutely do work that angle. Yuri bait, bouncing tits, doujins, lewd art hashtags, "I'm horny" etc etc.

Let's not forget a number of vtubers *are* camgirls on the side, including multiple hololive members. Another example; Projekt Melody camgirls as a vtuber, camgirls with her real face, and does gameplay stuff on twitch. I'm not calling them prostitutes or anything (except Melody, I think she did/does actual escort work based on some of the slang she uses) but it is interesting to see the overlaps.

It doesn't bother me at all, but I'm curious if it bothers any of them, or if any of their parents have objected to their work on those grounds. I know some people who would also be bothered by getting their income from "donations" instead of through a more concrete form of monetary exchange (e.g. they put on a concert and sell tickets, or sell a product), so I was just asking if any of the other girls had brought up these topics on stream.

I think the rules say you CAN you are auditioning but YOU CANT say you got in

Eh, still, i feel like being so open about it might affect your chances given that the agency would likely be still looking at your social media profiles, right?

She got severely annoyed that you can actually finish the game in less than 10 minutes if you know what you are doing, so she went to pout on twitter to say that she wanted to do it on stream to be praised

fun thing i've learned from /vt/'s daughter bear: the japanese word for "crab" is "kani". How does she pronounce it?
cunny
Later in this stream, around 1:53:00, she read a donation from someone who gave the name "Big Dick" something. She knew what it meant and read the name anyway... several times.

While we know the EN scene throws their bitchfits about loli Vtubers and their twitter hashtags... meanwhile in JP, I just noticed this based bear has not just an R18 tag, but an R18G tag too. The only post to the R18G tag so far is this adorable example she drew up:

She's also said
This private information is unavailable to guests due to policies enforced by third-parties.
on stream already. Long story short, I'm finding her very interesting.

Goddammit I love that stupid shark. Was half watching that live while doing other shit but missed the context. Always had a pretty good feeling she's not your typical perpetually outraged white grill. Between this, her subtle jabs at that big titty hammerhead Venti, and her sense of humor in general I'm convinced Gura's roomate is pretty based. It's innocuous enough on the surface, but I could see one of these "journalists" catching wind and making a big old stink about it.

"Famous Virtual YouTuber is a Dog Whistle for the Alt-Right" :story:

Somewhat related, cuz faggot games journalists and the goons who read their dribble:

Just saw this on a Nathan Grayson article (was looking for Nier Automata shit but my compulsive clicking took me elsewhere) before I popped back over here. Imagine being so salty about a sweet girl like Gura finding success. These people are STILL seething 6 months later. They just cannot stand anything that makes people happy. Crabs in a bucket.

Can't wait to drop a hundo on Same-chan when my flubux come in. 6 months of feels and laughs. Worth it. Even better knowing theres a good probability someone will see it and have to be put on suicide watch.
