There's a few colleges and Universities in that area. It's a nice area and pretty lively. There's always kids walking around in their pyjama's at night to buy stoner snacks etc.

For a while Waterloo was kind of seen as Ontario's Silicon Valley. University of Waterloo is a reputable math/engineering school. Wilfred Laurier is known for (particularly woke) social sciences, and it's a much smaller school.

People think about Waterloo as a small place, but it's not really. It's kind of like a part of a larger city. They call it the Tri-Cities (Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge). The population of just Waterloo is like 100,000 but the Tri-Cities population is around 500,000.
