Even smoothbrained le enlightened redditors on /r/coronavirus think the vaccination rate means by the summer they can start living normally again. I don't know how to tell them that their trust in frauds like St Fauci is totally misplaced and the government never acts in their interest. But there's clearly going to be a level of dissonance that occurs if restrictions are imposed into the summer, which makes me a little happy.

There won't be any rising up against Corona lockdowns. Any of the states that the people would rise up and protest against them have either lifted the lockdowns or never put them into place. The remaining states are either lifting them soon or are full of coronatarians.

People always bring up how masks work because flu cases "dropped", but get mad when you ask them why they didn't work against COVID.

That's about what I expected. Every year the hospital I work at goes full alert mode during flu season. Signs, notices, everything to remind people that the flu can mess up elderly and immunocompromised patients.

This year? Nothing. Nothing at all about the flu. As if they want people to forget the flu was even a thing. It's...amazing how unsubtle it was that they're clearly subbing in covid for the flu.

The graphs are there people. The flu is a harbinger of death around the world Every. Single. Year....except just this one.

If you say "I had the flu. It was awful!" then everyone says "Well of course it was awful. It's the flu. Get back to normal life now."

If you say "I had Covid. It was awful!" then everyone says "OMG did you get tested? You got tested right? Testing is SO SO SO important! Gonna get the vaccine? Got to get the vaccine! So important! Stay 6 feet away, wear a mask, disinfect everything, stay home!"

Such an odd time we're living in.

That's cause people *aren't* wearing masks like they're supposed to so covid is still a thing but improperly wearing masks def stopped the flu from spreading.

This is where I remind the thread that flu basically disappeared from the numbers in the US this past season because it's all been lumped together into a "PIC" (Pneumonia, Influenza, COVID) number. Who the fuck knows if we actually had less flu cases this year because the CDC went out of its way to obfuscate the numbers.
