AFAIK that's true in rats when they dose them extremely high with estradiol. Like, a normal human dose in a rat. I think this is just good old fashioned mental illness and has nothing to do with copper.

I'm not talking about rats. I'm documenting about the well-documented effect of estradiol in humans. Copper is needed for producing new blood and growing new blood vessels (angiogenesis). Early in a woman's menstrual cycle, the lining of her uterus thickens and grows a bunch of new blood vessels to host the developing fetus. This is the point in her cycle when her estradiol increases, because this is when she needs more copper. And when she's pregnant, estradiol increases even more, because she needs a lot of copper for the fetus. But troons don't have a uterus or uterine lining, don't bleed every month, and they sure as hell aren't getting pregnant. Their copper levels are going to be abnormally high, higher even than a woman's.

The reason that copper levels aren't usually taken into consideration is because there is no useful test for it. Oh, it's easy enough to run a blood test, but the problem is that the levels of copper in the blood do not correspond to the levels of copper in the tissues, so the results are meaningless. How much "good old fashioned mental illness" has actually been the result of high copper levels all along? No one knows for sure, but definitely more than you think.

I would argue that it depends on the type of synthetic estrogen being consumed. Estradiol(the pill) does exactly what you described and could be a huge helping hand in the mental illness department. However, Estradiol Valerate injections are proven to put less estradiol in the body and more of the other estrogen(the 'good' kind if you will). The Valerate raises estrogen without raising estradiol levels in the body. This can be good for most troons. Unfortunately due to the self-ID world we live in, its far easier and mainstream to pass a simple blood test, and then get estradiol pills within a week. You're definitely on to something as:

As a nurse in training, this seems to be the case with most troons I've dealt with. Putting those that are truly dysphoric on valerate has been much better in the overall mental well-being of patients.
