On Monday March 22nd, Krispy Kreme put out a
press release informing the public that anyone who gets vaccinated will get a free donut every single day for the rest of the year from participating locations.
They also offered to give out free donuts to
vaccination centers to those working to administer the vaccine. While the news was welcomed by many people, and surely thousands will take up the offer, the idea of eating a donut daily seems contrary to many people’s perspective on what health is, especially since we are dealing with a health issue. When it comes to Covid-19, studies have already shown that obesity puts people at a higher risk of dying if they get infected with the virus.
Many people who are skeptical about taking such an experimental vaccine mocked Krispy Kreme’s initiative, but Ian Smith, the owner of Atilis Gym in New Jersey, actually made a counter offer.
Smith has been on the spotlight multiple times during the pandemic, given his refusal to comply with the draconian New Jersey lockdowns, and has kept his gym open despite multiple attempts to close it down, and governmental attacks on his business and finances.
Yesterday afternoon, Smith took to
twitter and wrote “In light of @krispykreme giving free donuts for receiving the CVD shot, here at @TheAtilisGym we are giving out free memberships to anyone that doesn’t get vaccinated. We believe in health – the real way – exercise, good diet, plenty of vitamin D, Zinc, and an environment to destress.”
