Well, it's not like it'll be called gatekeeping anymore. Saying the group is full is my personal favorite. Most groups aren't open and have gone totally invite only, so if you don't advertise a wild troon may not appear. It's not a perfect solution, but it's a solution and it stops you from painting No Troons Allowed on the clubhouse. Besides, if the fact S+ gained any traction at all beyond a joke indicates, people are just getting sick of troons.
I'm guessing they're mostly on Discord these days? A lot of local stores shifted that way and started doing webcam tournies for TCGs. Lots of dick pics being sent to roasties who start drawing attention to themselves last I heard.

Was S+ just shit posters or did it have serious traction? It's difficult to gauge when you had Reddit fund raising for pro-troon charities on the subreddit. I couldn't make head nor tail of which sides were supposed to be being drawn and which was just Gamergate style faggotry all over again.

These days, yeah. There's a few LGS in the more relaxed states that run in store events, but they try to keep them either on the DL or use the base as their white knights. So some groups are still running.

It was shit posters who got some actual traction when the gays and lesbians showed up wanting to join. At this point, it looks like it's mostly shit posting again unless the media white knights Streisand Effect it more than it has been.

I heard stores telling people to sneak past nigger riots to attend events a few days ago. When BLM was burning cities the shop owner tried to hold an event and asked players to go through the rioters. Wish I knew which store it was so I could chase up the story.

I only saw it co opted and looking at Reddit now I'm seeing the same thing happening with the pedo protests. Reddit love throwing their money away

You can’t post stuff like that and leave us without screenshots or links to threads.

Nothing to screenshot. It's a 1 line post about a girl getting dick pics on discord after being in a tournament. Store had IDs of players so they banned the guy who sent it.

https://archive.md/A7Eic Archive of the BLM protest story. None of them are in depth.

Candlekeep Mysteries, Wizards of the Coast's woke adventure anthology, complete with wheelchair-accessible dungeon, and several other demonstrations of woke-ness, is coming under fire from one of its own writers. Graeme Barber, aka POCGamer, has been salty about D&D not being woke enough before. Here's his latest problem with his own product: WotC's editors ruined it.

The few preview reviews of the book that included my adventure were using some language that I didn’t think would be used. It became apparent that there had been changes. I waited patiently for my copies to arrive, and they came a few days after the release. A quick look revealed that the start of the adventure had been significantly changed. The rest seemed fine though, and I carried on with life until the other night, when I had an opportunity to sit down and give it a thorough read. It was a hard read. I would find out that my adventure had been reduced down to 5686 words, with a lot of my content significantly changed. The plot was 80% missing and problematic colonialist language and imagery had been inserted. What happened after that can be seen on Twitter.

POCGamer asked of his original version of the adventure could be released on DM's Guild, to which WotC predictably said no. He's now pissing on his former employer all over Twitter.

On one hand, this guy's an entitled asshole who doesn't get how freelancing works and didn't read his contract, and he's going to learn the hard way what happens when you shit on your employer. On the other, I think there was some legit interesting lore about the system that got cut, and he may have a point about WotC's commitment to wokeness being superficial at best.

Good OP, Omegon.
A quick search has returned nothing, so let me introduce you to /tg/s irontard. He is by no means worthy of his own thread, but is worth a sensible chuckle and this seems a good enough place to post him. He is an obsessive fan of the 40K character Perturabo and his legion. Ol' Pert can be a bit of a polarising character in the community. When written well he is an underappreciated genius autist. When written poorly as he so often is he is just a screeching autist prone to chimpouts.

The irontard is a regular poster on /tg/ who autistically jumps to Perturabos defence.
Unfortunately the board is now shat up by spergs trying to bait him and he seems to have pretty much left the board. There are a few more threads that he derails but I'm having a hard time finding them and they aren't quite as funny.

He couldn't self-insert his shit woke adventure into FR lore and WOTC cut out 1/5 of the words he used which is common. That's what an editor does, they edit, the make the wording tight and concise. Poor lil POCGamer thought he was the next EGG and got slapped in the face by the Corporate Machine.

Good, fuck him and his ilk. Be a salty queen bitch.

I won't invite a transexual to my game. I don't care who you sleep with, what color your skin color is, who you pray to , and what you do for a living . I will not accept any mentally ill people to my table and any found to be of mental difficency can go fuck off and find their own game somewhere else. If you want to play dress up that's fine, do it on your own time. My house, my game, my rules. Don't like it? Fuck off to Roll20 and do your game that way disruptive nutjobs.

The issue with a lot of them is they just ruin the game by being way more autistic than everyone else, which is saying something.

I know of that loon. I completely forgot about him lol. He’s the reason I follow anyone with @Perturabo just in case. He’s not around but I think @MMX laughed at some iron warrior spergs at some point in time.

Luke Crane has written an apology for the recent debacle with Adam Koebel. Woke Twitter reacts with all the forgiveness and mercy you'd expect from them.

If you think you are the only special snowflake at the table that's one selfish fuckwit. If you want that type of 1:1 attention go talk to your therapist and they'll talk to you all you want. Attention whores are the bane of the TTRPG

Never bend the knee, never apologize, you will never be forgiven.

Yeah, that’s true. I’ve had a hard time gaming with some who just had to be special snowflakes -not necessarily troons but were certainly unaware of social norms and bad at reading body language- and if they faced any resistance to their power fantasy they’d melt down like a spoiled toddler.

It’s actually for that reason why I refuse to run pick up games, help with store events, or admit someone I don’t know into a game I’m DMing. The only time I tolerate them is if I have no other choice ie a 40k, Bolt Action, or WFB event.

It's curious how an activity which requires cooperation and maturity is so thoroughly the province of people with poor emotional regulation and social skills.

It comes down in a lot of cases to the Geek Social Fallacy. People who were bullied as kids lack the fortitude to gatekeep crazies out of their hobbies because they can be gaslit into believing that gatekeeping is a kind of bullying.

It really is. I’d argue it’s mostly two things. The first, and this is less of an issue because of new technology, is how hard it was to find a group, especially in rural communities. So even if someone was a complete ass they’d be tolerated. The second is they don’t want to be mean for kicking someone out. This is covered in the geek social fallacies. *Edit* ninja’d by @Shaka Brah

It’s for that same reason why they’re attracted to LGBT stuff. A lot of the gays and lesbians were too nice and didn’t immediately throw out the autists when they talked about their OCs, being “plural systems,” and identifying as elfkin...

Add in the whole "Gatekeeping is ALWAYS BAD!" from the same people who say "We must ban who we determine to be fascists from what we have now claimed is our hobby" and you have a lot of people who just want to play RPG's unwilling to stand up for themselves out of fear that what meager social life they have will be ruined by some shrieking fucking troon.

Yeah, I feel your pain. My favorite is the backbiting at pick-up events. You get people at a table and usually one dude (typically a paladin or healer type) ends up taking charge and driving the action. Then the meangirl crap starts after the game. It's hilarious. Never mind there were 15 people at the table and we had to keep moving along.

Anyway, the trick is to make sure if there's an unknown in the group, the GM doesn't have a problem booting people and is okay running low numbers. Oh, and is generous with the healing items if there's no healer.

Yeah, no shit. The nerds who are sick of this shit need to make sure there's support systems in place. Namely, forming the insular groups and just not letting Nathan No-Nuts in as a rule with the universal smackdown: "Sorry, our group's full. The GM is comfortable with the amount of people we have." Then just resist the hell out of anyone trying to force their way in by constantly repeating the above line to whoever they recruit.

Whenever you hear someone complaining about gatekeeping, remember that gates exist for a reason, and odds are they are exactly the type of person who should not be allowed past the gate.
