She likely never will. Even if Pam didn't have schizophrenia, she would probably avoid the question. Religious debates are like politics in that you will very likely never change someone's opinion on the topic. I think the discussion here has been very informative, just to make that clear. However, some people who are hard into religion or the absence of, are ready to emotionally go to war over their opinion.
I doubt the average person could answer why God allowed Job to be tormented for so long.

I think discussions like this can actually help one modify or strengthen their worldview. Cognitive dissonance may be unpleasant but it usually leads to good things. And someone willing to engage in such discussion can't be a hardened fundamentalist I think.
