I don't give two shits about the fact he may have an almost Chomsky like view of the World when it comes to big corporations. In fact, I agree with him on many things, and I'm far from being a Marxist. The fact the guy has some commie tier ideas doesn't make him an idiot or someone that should be disregarded as an utter moron.

RMS is a somewhat tragic figure in the mold of Terry A Davis; clearly a brilliant individual that's trapped by his own mind. It's surprisingly easy to feel sympathy for RMS, despite some of the somewhat ill-thought out (in some cases, downright questionable) views he's put out there at times.

That said, this thread was long overdue.

Stallman may be strange, but he's someone I respect. We need people of his skill and conviction. It's disgusting to see these talentless cucks and harpies trying to tear him down.

Incidentally Gates and Stallmans time at Harvard overlapped. In one of Cass Sunsteins books he notes in the dorms that Stallman was brilliant, eccentric and intense. By comparison Gates was a dullard.

Stallman doesn't care what others think of him, he only cares about his message. But he's too uncompromising and blinded to do something as basic as groom himself to help his delivery.

Because he's a true believer. There's too much money in software now to let a smelly 60s activist spread shit about software freedom. Being eccentric (and probably very lonely) just helps the smear.

So his entire evidence of proof is:
- In 2005 rms shit on something he did when working on GNU Savannah (but he doesn't have receipts)
- In 2017 the FSF doesn't like proprietary drivers, and he thinks that attitude is toxic (!!)

No shit the FSF is driven by ideology. That's that whole reason for being! Anything less than insisting on free software is not free software.
