did not know that about YA, but any "stan" type of community that obsesses over particular franchises/artists is usually nuts, so not surprised.
plus any type of commentary/review channel tends to attract haters and rabid fans alike (everyone in tgwtg, enter, turkey tom etc) so the intersection of such insane peoples and communities was bound to be a bloodbath

Its less about them being nuts, more about them having what is effectively a socially sanctioned and media/celebrity approved excuse to act like an insane piece of shit on the internet without consequence in order to get whatever piddling internet points or attention they crave.
Back in the day we would call their type "newfags" of "weens" when they cropped up on the chans or the old cwckiforum, and they would be typified by their obsessive need to be the edgiest edgy edgelord possible in how aggressively they hated what was popular to mock or criticise, and how needlessly stupidly nasty they would be to whatever they thought they had the excuse to go after.

So Kyle Kallgren's fiancee (?) Jordain Searles, a Strong Disabled Queer Woman of Color, accused Dany "Lina Morgan" Roth of sexually harassing her and trying to kiss her in December of 2019. Dany is Todd in the Shadows's bestie and his co-host on the podcast Song vs Song. Todd didn't cancel Dany, Kallgren lost that entire TGWTG friend group over it, and Dany just trooned out to try to escape himself this past month. Lindsay guested on the podcast (defending Nookie by Limp Bizkit) not long ago and of course both Todd and Dany simped to an appalling degree. The fallout from this might spread to the entire Lindsaysphere.
