Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

The Patrick show feels like it could be a repeat of Planet Sheen where you make the spergy side-character a star and you realize why they were a side-character in the first place.

I am intrigued by the TMNT movie though, there is a surprising lack of animated movies for them. I think we just have Turtles Forever and the 2007 movie which were both acceptable takes, but let's see if third time's the charm.

Well it looks like Camp Corral and the Rugrats reboot were not the only things coming to nickelodeon. With the exception of one original thing....sad.
>Rugrats reboot and two goddamn Spongebob spinoffs
*sigh*
Also, how much you wanna bet that they're gonna make the parts revolving around Susie in the Rugrats reboot "woke"?

Intrigued about the upcoming Avatar stuff but that's about it.
After LoK and that disaster of a live action series, I am filled with apprehension about more Avatar stuff, especially with Bryke behind it.
Looking at this slate plus everything else coming from studios, I think it’s safe to say we’re in the Aluminum Age of Hollywood; everything is recycled.

I wonder how the Big Nate tv show will work out. It's probably going to be mediocre as with everything coming out these days,

I'm honestly gonna hate The Patrick Show even more than Kamp Koral, because of how they completely changed Patrick's parents

I mean... I kinda get it. The original designs were literally just Patrick in some other outfits, they’re objectively bland designs that might be fine for a 5 second gag but aren’t fit to carry an entire show.

Of course the premise of a show starring (lol) Patrick’s family is suspect at best, but if they are going to do it, it makes sense to create new designs.

Also I just noticed this is like the third time they retconned the whole Patrick having a sister deal.
It went from no sister to having Hulk for a sister to having an adopted kid appeal character.

It's dumb that they unofficially banned "Mid-Life Crustacean," but you can still see it on Amazon Prime and despite them saying it's been out of rotation since 2018, Nicktoons has occasionally aired it recently. I believe they had a marathon of every SpongeBob episode just a few weeks ago and they did indeed air it. They're not doing a good job of canceling it.

As for the other episode, it will air, eventually. Way back when, after 9/11, there were episodes of shows that Nick stopped airing because they featured plane crashes. They eventually made it back into the rotation.

(You really want to get angry, look at how many episodes of Ren and Stimpy aren't on Paramount's streaming service.)

Would suck to lose it as it had my favorite moment. But I suppose kids don't like to be reminded where they'll be in 50 years...

There were so many great moments in this episode. "Can you feel it, Mr. Krabs?", "Not lame!"... and, of course, the infamous panty raid.

You know, I wonder, where were the cries in protest when Nick did the same thing for episodes back in the 90s?

OK there is so much to unpack with this. First the line up for Nick reeks of soullessness. A baby shark show a rugrats reboot and two Spongebob spin-offs while they pull a Disney plus and boot two episodes from streaming.

The current CEO also reeks, of soy and tds and it's just fucking embarasing.

If I have anything good to say it's this, while they've pulled two eps of Spongebob from paramount plus, they've also added of all things kablam to it. I think a few eps or sketches might be missing, most definitely the Angela anaconda ones but it's nice seeing a nearly lost piece of 90s Nick uploaded to an official service (even if like ren and stimpy you're better off watching the missing eps/segments online

Not just that but music, too, sometimes some pretty arbitrary choices. For instance, things like Drowning Pool's "Bodies," which sort of makes sense, I suppose, but also stuff like "Fire & Rain" by James Taylor, presumably because it mentions a plane crash.

Overreactions like that are annoying, but I can at least understand them.

You're not. What's going around the torrents is largely taken from the DVDs, and those are badly, badly cut for reasons that only made sense to John K's deranged pedo mind. Some of the episodes that are on streaming don't contain the DVD cuts, though, which automatically makes them better.

Luckily for you, you don't have to settle...
