Sound action-y. While I don't mind a good (with strong emphasis on "good") action movie the main appeal books have for me is getting into characters' heads. I find it much easier to follow some random stream of consciousness than a well-written action scene

The first book is a bit action-y, mainly focusing on a mother trying to get her kids out of inner city London, which has gone completely feral. The 2nd book is more about the community she helps to build up over a couple of years on an abandoned oil rig, using chicken shit to power generators and all that malarkey (right up my street haha).

I think I've got Famine, Plague and Drought downloaded already, I've not read them yet tho. Someone recommended me a whole series of books as well, around 10 or 12 of them...I'll see if I can find them, they're supposed to be really good.

I've noticed more people than ever have gotten into this kinda stuff this last year, along with prepping. Nothing like a good old fashioned pandemic to get people's ducks in a row ey!

Now this got me interested. Don't mind a good post-apo But I doubt anything can steal that place in my heart occupied by Dick & Zelazny's "Deus Irae".

If you're talking about Katie Maguire series it's pure detective \ crime series (and not a bad one, it also takes place in Ireland so somewhere I've actually been to and can find locations I've seen in the books ) but Manitou series will always be my favorite Masterton. I mostly watch old movie and book reviews reviews, old public domain movies, some true crime docs and play music when it comes to youtube And some narrated stories for when I work.
