Some men do use female avatars, but they don't try to hide anything. They're called babiniku.

The biggest ones are Japanese but there are bilingual and exclusively English speaking ones too. There are also indonesian, russian, chinese speakers that have smaller audiences.

Most of the popular ones aren't.

Some are, some aren't. Parasocial relationships are just as common as normal streaming. Some companies implicitly maintain idol conventions like Hololive. Other companies don't care and let their streamers date openly. Independent streamers can do whatever they want.

>Why do they hide what they look like IRL?
It depends on the streamer. Maybe it's part of their brand. Maybe they're shy. Maybe they value their privacy. Maybe they have a face fit for radio. Some don't care at all whether people know what they look like IRL. Vtubing is just an intermediate step between streaming without a facecam and streaming with one.

>What do they actually do in streams?
Not that different from your average twitch streamer for most. Mainly talk to the viewers, play games, collab with each other. Many of the popular ones produce ancillary content like music videos, 3D streams (streams using 3d motion capture) and even live concerts. The most popular vtubers in Japan are basically celebrities at this point and do press releases, tv appearances and marketing promotions.

For the largest Japanese corporate vtubers, the viewer demographics are predominantly single men, 18-30. Some vtubers have a high proportion of female fans though. People watch this shit for a variety of reasons that are too long to list, but for the casual viewer, it's because vtubers put out long form content that can be consumed passively that is currently in demand thanks to the current pandemic accelerating the atomization of modern society. Either that, or "lol funni anime girl said the n word".

point is, performing in front of an audience for entertainment is old as fuck, and over time the concept logically adapted to the audience and technical/cultural changes. like you can now watch it in your underwear while eating cereal in your living room instead of having to go to a night club or cabaret. they can perform in front of a live audience of thousands without losing the intimate aspect a small club would provide and don't even have to be attractive. ffs hiding behind a mask for the sake of the art or adding to the performance is old as fuck, if you don't go all out and do ventriloquism, only difference is now it's digital because technology advanced that much (which still doesn't keep people from using it today, ever heard of fucking daft punk?)

either way you need to be a good all around entertainer, else no one is gonna bother with watching you. being a cute animu girl only takes you so far, same way good looks don't help you if you're an unfunny cunt who can't sing. you'll probably still get a netflix special tho.

that's why I don't get questions like "for what purpose?" - have you niggas never watched late night shows/SNL/comedians (before they turned to shit?), or see your parents/grandparent watch variety shows of old? you might have missed it but all of them are done in front of a live audience and the tv version is just clipped from the whole show. even a zoomer's parents should at least remember the format, since it was still around in the 90's and early 00's.

it's entertainment, and it shouldn't be necessary to explain why people enjoy entertainment - which doesn't have to be "good" (how ever you objectively wanna rate it), there's no accounting for taste.

it doesn't help that most people that want to connect with others and use their hobbies etc for it aren't usually gifted with the most social awareness to begin with, or communicative enough to convey what they like about it, since most of the time they don't have the friends and social circle for it. hence the urge to "share" so they have something in common to talk about.
that's why "watching gura is for pedos" is usually followed by the virgin walk, and not countered with a simple "do you wanna fuck everything you see? your capeshit is full of muscular dudes. you also told someone 'nice ride' yesterday. wanna fuck his car?"

If HoloEN will become a main standalone branch, I can see Haachama wants to transfer to EN management team for good.
-EN operate differently with zero to none “idol” expectation from management team.
-EN gives their girls a lot lax rules unlike the conservatives JP branch.
- Living 3+ years in Australia (despite loneliness) made her appreciated personal freedom more than ever if the rumor of her father being mega patriarch was true. Plus chatting with EN girls over Discord can paint the culture contrast and push her to enter “rebellious phase”.
- Her hiatus can due to her family wants her to study for that Japan national university entrance exam which she literally had no hope of passing consider the stark differences between Australia K12 vs Japan K12, which expect students to know up to calculus 3 (this stresses her out tremendously).

Lulu shared a few interesting tidbits on her stream tonight. She talked about how livers usually has pet because they stay at home a lot, basically all crazy cat ladies. The difficulties she has with her allergies, how it prevented her from getting a pet herself when she felt lonely after she started living alone. Also she loved reptile and wanted to get a pet snake, but Lize and HonHima talked her into getting a cat by showing how cute their own cat were.
I don't know the breed, but the cat she got didn't trigger her allergies, its fur has the same color as her hair and small enough to hold with one hand, basically a match made in heaven, and I guess her fans should expect that little stream invader frequently from now on.

In her member stream, she also talked a little about Era's graduation. No details obviously, instead she talked about their relationships and her personal feelings regarding it. It was nice seeing the two, who has virtually almost none public contact, actually has a close bond behind the scene.

I was expecting a corporate respond about her extended break and her plans going forward now that she returned, instead I got some personal conversations and I dig it. I enjoy these zatsudan immensely and if more livers would have this instead of the usual asmr crap for membership content I'd be more inclined to join to support their channel.

Wow, I just came to this thread about theater and I'm horrified. What's wrong with you disgusting freaks? Juliet Capulet is 13 years old for fuck's sake, this is literally advocating pedophilia and you all should be arrested. Not only that, we all know her actress isn't actually 13, she's literally roleplaying as a young girl for sickos like yourselves.

I was also appalled to learn that men sometimes play as female characters. Don't you know literally any play could be like this? Behind the costumes, makeup and microphones it's literally impossible to tell who the actor is, I say actor not actress because we all know any half-attractive woman wouldn't bother with this crap, they would just go outside and show off their tits normally. Theatre is for dumb autistics who can't read emotions properly, and thus need exaggerated expressions and dramatic music to be able to relate, you're basically the same as all those losers who watch movies.

I just genuinely don't understand the appeal of watching 30-year-old men and women pretend to be characters on stage. The actors don't care about you, they couldn't care less if you existed and your precious ticket money goes mostly towards upkeep of the theater as well as supporting staff. You're being sold a lie. Stop jacking off to fictional characters (watching this trash for "entertainment" is bullshit) and go outside ffs.

I can only see good things happening if Cover let her go Fubuki and be part of another EN gen.
