This was brought up earlier, but I think it's rather telling/sad that the infamous PSA warning Japanese artists about Westerners who harass them online have many of the aforementioned people above either sharing most of those qualities or just showing how their behavior IS the part of the problem. I'd argue many people in reality don't really care what you stand for as long as you aren't actively hurting others. However, if you're consistently showing noticeable patterns of being an asshole AND associate with those identifiers, can you be surprised when others start to catch on?
These people aren't stupid. They know that these attacks have been targeted and frequent for quite a while. It was only a matter of time before word got around not to engage with certain types of people and it is what it is, sadly. If you don't give respect to others, why should they treat you the same way? You forfeit that right the moment you act high and mighty about something so inconsequential that it just comes off as pure jealousy and pettiness. No one asked these people to come in as these Japanese artist's saviors and fix their work, but they have the nerve to assume that their actions are totally helping others instead of making the groups they're supposedly looking out for appear even worse. The best (worst) part is that these so called "defenders of POC" basically brought it on themselves. No one told these people to go into these spaces and insult these artists and change their artwork. They did it of their volition. So can you really be surprised when you rightfully get ignored/blocked? At that point, you've earned it and you only have yourself to blame.
But sadly, of course, we know these people will never take ANY accountability whatsoever in regards to crapping on other artist's time, efforts and hard work because we know they can't see themselves as being in the wrong. Look at how that recent artist (mysticmaryy) reacted when even their own followers told them to shut the fuck up after "fixing" that Sonic artwork. They wrote a non-apology and deactivated. These people know what they're doing is wrong. It's just another power trip for them because they know certain artists are less likely to bite back and would rather avoid that conflict entirely.
