Big fish in a small pond. The cosplay community was a lot different 20 years ago when Lori got her start. She was an average weight with a decent complexion, and had money to spend on expensive extensions and costumes/props made by someone else. The natural hair thing used to be a big deal when there wasn't good availability of cosplay wigs like there is now. So many of the other cosplayers were just nerds in high school who had their mom or aunt help them make a budget costume over a weekend to wear when they hung out with their friends. Cosplay used to be a lot more home grown and less professionalized, and someone who had some money to spend could stand out just by virtue of having their parents or boyfriend finance their hobby.
Well, she bagged Kevin because he only has a soft spot for loli types and ana-chans. She ticks both boxes and leans into his deluded anime power couple crap so he's got his dream girl for sure. Lori can't pull anyone who isn't a scheming douche or completely naive to lunacy. On the topic of content, there's definitely a market for "young" looking anime bimbos who are awkward. The juxtaposition of stripper garb and little girl aesthetics (both physically and set-wise) is key.
