Not the end of the PCP, but a new beginning.
It finally happened. That absolute moron Digibro is finally off the podcast. He is plague on the podcast and a detriment to any episode he was on. For 5 years of listening to the PCP, I hoped that he would never come back to the podcast, but time and time again he showed his ugly mug spouting his pseudo-intellectual nonsense. He gives shit advice despite having the utmost confidence that his word is that of the gospel.
If only people followed his advice, they would achieve success! In reality, anyone who did attempt to follow his advice got absolutely nowhere.
People made jokes that everyone in the PCP was leeching off of Digi, but Digi was leeching off everyone in the PCP.
Even now, Digi drags down Nate on a milk-toast soulless channel that is attempting the game the system of YouTube with bargain bin content. The "human content machine" mass produces bland trash.
The only reason he could label himself "human content machine" in the first place was because of his editor, theDavoo. Digibro was at his most successful (monetarily and mental health-wise) when Davoo was editing his videos. Davoo allowed him to shit out a huge amount of quality content very quickly while minimizing the effort for Digi. Davoo saw the sinking ship and abandoned it long ago. Instead of allowing Digi to leech off of his hard work, he furthered his own career, far away from anywhere near Digibro and is all the better for it.
Tom Oliver has swapped branding tips with Digi for years, but never really saw any of the success that Digi did. He has switched from pandering to the ideas obtained from Digibro about maximizing the amount of attention and monetary value for content to doing something he actually cares about. He is mastering a field and is actually creating, something Digibro wants but has failed to do on many occasions, usually out of laziness.
Munchy, a self described Digi fanboy was attached to Digi at the hip. You can see throughout the many episodes of the podcast he grows further and further away from both Digi and his lifestyle of an internet homeless man. Multiple times throughout the podcast, Munchy present an idea that does not follow Digibro's narrative, to which Digi shits on the idea or heavily criticizes it. Digi will remain a goblin of the internet, while Munchy will continue to ascend past anything Digi could ever hope to be. In fact, he already has, in a creative sense.
Gibbontake / Hippo is also a huge fan of Digi, but even he called Digi out on his bullshit to his face. In episode 251, they discuss one of Digi's new videos and Gib essentially shits on it, causing Digi to get extremely defensive. Gib tossed the YouTuber thing into the trash long ago. He's working on a movie/TV Show as a writer(?) along with his other comics. Both of these are things that Digi will never be able to do despite clearly wanting to.
Ben has always been independent of Digi's success, so it's not surprising that it is a conflict involving the two that actually severed the link here. Even before the PCP, Ben was a college graduate and successful web-comic creator. While BestGuyEver needed any advantage he could get to get into the Youtube scene (Digi shilled BGE's first few videos to hell and back), Ben has always been an independent creator, taking the free publicity, but never having to rely on it.
I could go on, but covering all the previous and current members would require more research, specifically Jess and Mage. EndlessJess has always been an enigma and even more so now that most of his content is Patreon only. Mage is someone that I have never kept up with. The whole Mumkey situation deserves it's own post, but that would be retrodding old ground covered by this thread years ago.
The PCP, since the very beginning, has branded itself as a group of creators. Every member of the podcast is a creator, except for Digibro. His main content style has been leeching off of the creations of others through 'analysis' videos. There was a whole arc throughout the podcast of the members going from loving analysis video essays to shitting on most of them or considering them nothing but background noise. I'm not attempting to shit on video essays here, but Digibro has stated very clearly that he wants to be an creator of media, rather than a reviewer of media, but has failed in every venture he has taken. This intent is where my problem lies with him. Everyone else on the PCP is trying to create the things that matter to them. Digi has avoided the things that he actually wants to do by taking the path of least resistance throughout the years. Even this event is him taking the easy way out.
He values the path of a musician because his music does not require as much effort as any the other creative pursuits that he actually wants to perform. He can simply take someone else's beat, get high, and attempt to make something out of that. In his mind, anything that is mediocre can be written-off as a stylistic choice. If someone doesn't like it, it just wasn't for them, quality be damned.
All of the members of the PCP have been held back, but the tumor that is Digibro has been removed. Things can only go up from here. I'm looking forward to the promising future of all the creators of the PCP.
