Sometimes one comes along that for some reason you especially want to watch die slowly. This is one of those times.

It's been said many times before but the Orwellian abuse of language is nothing if not fascinating. There's a mantra-like quality to threadbare phrases like "unprecedented attack on our humanity", "wrong puberty", "trans kids", "identity erasure", etc. etc. in that they're not invoked to convey meaning, but to evoke a receptive, accepting state of mind within the speaker and the audience. Indeed what is accomplished by the repetition is precisely to render the language meaningless and opaque, resistant to analysis or proof, because such activities, being dependent on the faculty of judgment, are incompatible with the receptive, accepting state of mind that the use of such language seeks to establish. The anger, rage and hostility against "wrongthink" comes not from any substantial disagreement about meaning as such, but rather from a quasi-religious sentiment that takes offense at desecration of the Sacred, ie. the disturbance of a receptive, accepting state of mind.
In other words, people say these things not because they actually mean anything, but because they're comforting articles of faith, which is why doubting their substitute-God makes them lash out.
