What's the endgame then? The moment you repeal the mask mandate is the moment cases skyrocket. Countries with strict mask mandates like the Philippines (Based Duterte won't let a crisis go to waste) or Vietnam (commie shithole) aren't doing much better, let alone the difference within the United States (i.e. California vs Florida). I do not believe the government should be allowed to impose a mask mandate when the science says there is no need, which we've known for about a year, for the same reason the government shouldn't be allowed to evacuate everyone from their house over a tropical storm that will blow through in a day. I mean I was making posts a year ago about this based on early reports of death rates and cases and people here called me insane for suggesting there was an overreaction.

I thought it back then and I think it infinitely moreso now, the minute we admit that this is not a problem is the minute the "pandemic" ends. Vulnerable people should wear a mask and take a vaccine, but everyone else doesn't need to unless they are regularly in contact with vulnerable people (i.e. same as the flu vaccine guidelines).

They are imposing an increasingly stranger "hyperreality" on us, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. If you feel a disconnect, then you are a target of their propaganda since the disconnection from reality is essential for gaslighting you. Progressive extremists love the term "gaslighting", but when the media--and your "elected" rulers--say you are a crazy and dangerous conspiracy theorist for doubting them, it's blatantly obviously you are being gaslighted.

The only pushback on this has been the 1/6 Capitol protest where a boomer patriot put his feet on Nancy's desk, some dude stole a podium, and a guy in a Viking/buffalo/whatever costume had a party in the Senate. It was far too premature, considering the 2020 election schenanigans are among the least offensive thing the government has done or wants to do in 2021.

You'll probably be ignored. Here's a personal example. My father tried to explain to his brother and sister-in-law that it was a bunch of overblown nonsense as long as you follow basic precautions, but it didn't work. My grandmother (who is in her mid-80s) is still terrified of it thanks to the fact she believes the media and just weeks after she got the disease (despite her and everyone who visited her wearing masks) was convinced to get the vaccine (both jabs). It's almost impossible to deprogram a COVID cultist and I am very lucky that my grandmother knew to take plenty of zinc and vitamin D. Since she has not been in the best of health for several years, I think that her (along with Donald Trump, the fat orange guy in the White House who loves McDonalds) example is yet more proof this disease is very survivable to the elderly who take the proper treatment.

It's especially sad since my grandfather who died years ago would have quickly understood the nonsense behind it and been pissed the government was fucking with his business. Sadly there's a lot of elderly who blindly trust the newspapers because "they've always been right".

Unfortunately, statistics don't matter in this day and age, only personal feelings. I just hope that anyone you know who contracts the disease knows to take plenty of zinc and vitamin D.

Trump is an idiot, and it's really sad that right-wingers (i.e. Fox News watching boomers) are no doubt about to repeat this bullshit. Orange Man should have fired these people or publically condemned them almost a year ago and found some actual scientists to lead the response. But he didn't. And only now he speaks up.

Here is why I am in full agreeance with the mask cultists that Donald Trump led a bad COVID-19 response.

But, Trump literally bashed Fauci 24/7 and removed him from having a final say on anything.

Also, Trump could not fire Fauci or Birx. There would of been another impeachment.

And literally every news station REEEEEEd that half the population of the U.S was gonna die from COVID.

Seems like he did alright considering that did not happen.

Does everyone not remember these things from less than a year ago?

This is one of the saddest things. My grandfather, who back in the 70s was anti-Vietnam, anti-government, live-and-let-live type of guy, now buys into everything the deep state says and puts massive trust in whatever the NYTimes has on their front page. It's really sad. They've been doing the same thing for so long that even when you point out how they're lying (e.g. about Portlanders not being rioting insurrectionists) and offer to send him a video showing exactly what happened, he denies its existence and veracity. Depressing, but hopefully it demonstrates once the boomers are actually dead, the media will truly lose its last stranglehold on a captive audience.

Newsflash: The virus doesn't give a fuck what legal restrictions your beloved big brother puts on people, its gonna spread, its gonna reproduce, and its gonna fucking keep evolving whether we like it or not. COVID is always going to be here, and pretending that something needs to be done about it is just authoritarian cope for the fact that you secretly get off on being ruled over.

I'm about to hit the road for work but once I settle down I'll give you a decent list of peer-reviewed literature and advice from actual practicing experts (no not politicians like Fauci or CNN journos) that this is overblown.

If they ignore that then you can accuse them of being hypocritical and/or fake if/when they claim to "listen to the science".

Lol thanks for the laugh, love the lack of self awareness in your post, and forgetting counties like Taiwan and New Zealand that did get it under the control. Just the government in most counties is just as much of a lolcow as people here.

You forgot Taiwan and New Zealand are islands and both compared had radically strategies from each other. There's no historical precedent for our response to a virus. If anything it made things worse.

Maybe it's just because I'm in a MOOD today over some personal (non covid) medical shit (please mentally insert the Guess I'll Die meme here) but I saw in the local news about some spring community events that are being changed from in-person to virtual and it pissed me off.
Some things cannot be done virtually and still be considered the thing.

I don't watch a sporting event on TV and say I attended the game.

I don't watch a movie on Netflix and say I went to the theater.

I don't make myself a drink in my own kitchen and say I went to a bar.

If I did start doing that I would hope someone would see about having me committed.

Consider this me post as me virtually yelling at a cloud since I don't want to go outside.
