(slight derail) I ended up taking the plunge and have been reading the book about Spink for the last few days and it's...weirdly informative? I thought it was interesting (it goes into his childhood and relationship with family in one chapter, which is something I wonder about most paraphiliacs like him) until it had this suspiciously neutral approach to ~zoos~ in general. I'm not done with it yet but I wonder what the author thinks about his death, lol.
I've linked to this article before (sorry), but from what I've looked into, AASECT-certified therapists
are literally trained to be supportive of degeneracy.
I don't doubt there's been scenarios where someone ends up seeing a therapist that has some kind of bias against their (non-illegal) lifestyle, but I could've sworn that therapists aren't even supposed to let their personal views slip in unless it's 100% relevant to their client or explicitly asked (and even then I don't know if they're obligated to share that)?
