Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Ukraine is effectively the European analogue to Iraq. It is entirely manufactured and therefore unable to exist within the parameters of existing ethnic, historic and regional considerations. It is fake. The West made it and its mere existence causes turbulence within the region at large.
Talk to me @Rustic Ruthenian I want to hear you opinion.

IMO, ultimately the issue surrounding Ukraine is that the people in the permanent Military/Intelligence/Foreign bureaucracy still haven't gotten over the fact that the Cold War is over. And so we need to keep pretending that the Bear is the greatest existential threat in existence, and so we need to confront it - even in areas that have historically been in their sphere of interest/influence for centuries and would instantly and needlessly bring us into conflict with it.

Ukraine serves zero strategic purposes to the U.S. or the Western Alliance outside of maybe providing a new market for Raytheon to sell weapons to or another economy for Frau Merkel to try to keep propping up her idiotic single currency/market before it goes tits ups. Is that really worth getting into a confrontation with Russia over?

False flags and artificial conflicts are the norm for the PTB. It may not make tactical sense for america, but if they need some kind of resource or a distraction in the Ukraine, it will be done regardless of morality and cost.

And just how long can they expect to keep playing these brinkmanship games until the populace at home has had enough of seeing their blood and treasure expended just to soothe some bureaucrat or corporate drone's ego?

I mentioned the end of the Cold War, and one of the things that brought it to an end was the Soviets giving up on supporting global revolution. Now, what brought that to an end? Gorbachev ended it, yes, but one of the reasons he did so was growing pressure at home. Because by the mid-1980's a sizable portion of Soviet citizens were fucking tired of seeing their hard earned rubles and labor going off to support "workers revolutions" in the third world while they suffered economic decline and fucking nuclear powerplant meltdowns at home. By the mid-80's they just didn't give a shit anymore. They didn't give a shit about Nicaragua, Cuba, Angola, or South Yemen. They didn't give a shit about maintaining the "Eastern Alliance." And there sure as hell didn't give a shit about continuing to send their sons to get killed in Afghanistan in order to bring Communism to a bunch of backwards barbarians.

Trump, I would argue, was a similar warning shot by the American populace that's it fucking sick and tired of seeing their wealth and children's lives expended, and domestic liberty curtailed, just so a bunch of spooks and trans-Atlantic chair warmers can keep playing an IRL game of Age of Empires. The line has been drawn, and the more these wannabe Roman praetors keep playing Empire at the expense of domestic needs, the more there's going to be an even larger backlash in the future. And it will come, no matter how much they try to label dissidents as "Russian trolls," no matter how much they censor or shadowban, no matter how much they try to rig elections, and no matter how many illiterate third-world helots they try to import in order to hold the tide back.

They think they can keep doing this forever. All they have to do, in their minds, is pump out more propaganda, shut people up, and call people nazis, racists and white supremacists. They think with that, people will swallow rising gas prices, rising food prices, decreasing freedom, internment in their own homes/apartments/pods, and the shredding of people's savings to fund their kickbacks.

There is one positive thing to consider, the establishment is starting to lose control of the flow of information. Before the mid 2000's the internet either did not exist or was a relatively niche thing, but its existence has jeopardized their monopoly on the truth. They cant blow smoke up our asses as easily as they did 80 years ago and right now their news networks have pissed away enormous amounts of credibility in their desire to eradicate Trumpism and deify Biden

Simply put, the ringmasters are getting old and out of touch with the currents of life. They have an outdated understanding of how the world works and its going to bite them on the ass if it hasn't already.

Trump was the biggest fracture they've ever had to face so far, and I would argue he is the first legitimate president we've had in decades. You've seen their fear and desire to put the genie back in the box, time and time again. The playbook has changed, and they are desperately trying to stack the deck anyway they can.

I must admit, after reading the political machinations of the CIA ive become more sympathetic to the Russian point of view, but I would like to know more about why the Ukraine should or shouldn't be protected.
Ukraine gave up its nukes to us in exchange for a protection that has never materialized. Obama was the first to abandon this promise, Biden will most likely too. It should be a matter of honor and distinguishing ourselves as trustworthy for protecting them.

Except Ukraine does have an ethnic foundation you won't find in Iraq. You can trace the Ukrainian ethnicity back to Kievan Rus for example, and there are a good chunk of lands Ukrainians can lay claim to due to these origins. Likewise Ukraine's borders and existence weren't determined by the West, they were established by the Soviet Union (see Khrushchev and Crimea) and accepted by the West following the USSR's collapse.

Ukraine's current chaotic situation is twofold. Firstly the country never really escaped Soviet-era collectivism like Poland or the Baltic countries, a good chunk of the economy remained (and remains) trapped by large and very corrupt corporations under the control of ex-Soviet bosses who rather leech off profits than actually create a thriving capitalist economy. This naturally breeds resentment, especially post-2008 among the Ukrainian majority who are not all too thrilled at seeing their lives not really change for the better following independence.

Second, and directly influenced by the first point, is the US and European neoliberal wing retardedly continuing to see Russia as a permanent threat that must be contained. To this end they pushed NATO expansion eastwards and have deliberately riled up pro-Western movements in former Soviet states to make membership happen (see the Orange Revolution).

The problem though is that Russia sees Ukraine as strategically vital to its interests; it will not tolerate NATO right on the figurative doorstep to its heartland or blocking off its access to warm water ports. Thus the annexation of Crimea and the carnage in Luhansk. Just like with Georgia and Abkhazia/South Ossetia back in 2008, Russia will gladly stir up trouble and fuck with these countries to keep NATO, the EU, and US out - and not care what anyone thinks of the optics. Ukraine's troubles are entirely the fault of US policy hawks and EU technocrats.

Pretty much this, war over Ukraine is utterly moronic, especially when their function as a conduit for natural gas into Europe is slowly being superseded by the likes of Nord Stream 2 and other waterborne pipelines. Which funnily enough in part explains why the US is desperate to shut that project down.

Ukraine gave up its nukes to us in exchange for a protection that has never materialized. Obama was the first to abandon this promise, Biden will most likely too. It should be a matter of honor and distinguishing ourselves as trustworthy for protecting them.

And every day Ukraine regrets the fact it made that deal.

The retarded social distancing and masks make me yearn for the Trump Administration to come back more than anything else. It's all just too eerie and cringe.

All that matters is muh "diversity" and "inclusion"; it doesn't matter if the most qualified people are in positions of power or have the best interests of the nation in mind. All that matters is that "they look like America".

It's like the "smart people" in the trans-Atlantic establishment really aren't all that smart and never learned anything from history.

Why was the Cuban Missile Crisis such a dangerous and destabilizing event? Because it had put the nuclear tripwire right on the front doorstep of one of the nuclear powers, in a country that had historical grievances with said nuclear power. What are the geniuses at the CIA, State, Pentagon, NATO, and EU essentially doing by trying to bring Ukraine and south Caucuses nations into their fold? Putting the nuclear tripwire right on the front doorstep of one of the nuclear powers, in countries that have historical grievances with said nuclear power.

If the whole "shadowy cabal" thing is anything to go by, they basically pulled off a miracle for their corner by literally pulling out all the stops to make it happen. The question is not whether they would but if they could pull it off again.

On the subject of Ukraine people are wrong to say there is no strategic reason to get involved there beyond the standard geo-poliitical stuff, Russia needing access to the Black Sea and the west trying to screw over Russia ect.

I forget the proper name for it, but Ukraine has shit-loads of the best type of soil for farming, in other words they have god-tier farmland likely the best in Europe. The reason they are not properly exploiting this is because many are still using literal soviet level tech, if they got anywhere near western industrialization, Ukraine would swiftly become the bread-basket of Europe.

This has caused many foreign eyes to turn Ukraine's way, not only because this would obviously make them very rich, and they would like to get in on that, but more importantly, there are several schools of thought that say, for a variety of reasons, food production/supply is the number 1 strategic priority for the next 50 years, and so Europe would very much like Ukraine to be sending all that food west to them rather than east to Russia.

So in other words, they've got the good soil, and if anyone interferes, everyone will be fighting over it.

Huh. War over food and not politics or ideals. We're going back to basics.

You're thinking black soil (or chernozem). It's true Ukraine does possess it in larges abundance (largest in the world actually), but agriculture isn't enough to explain US sabre rattling in particular; the US alone can meet all European food demand, and that's before taking into account Canada (has its own black soil belt in Manitoba) and domestic agricultural groups who very much want to keep competition out (France especially).

Plus I guarantee few of our supposedly enlightened policy officials are even thinking that far ahead, for these neoliberal foreign policy wonks it's all about putting the super scary Russians in their place and then handling such details. Only need to look at the sudden government interest in the likes of rare earth metals and semiconductor manufacturing to know the level of brilliance you're dealing with.
