Doctors say a child in Iraq is the first to be born with three penises.

Experts say the boy has a rare condition called triphallia, the first case ever reported in the world.

The unidentified baby, who lives in Duhok city, was three months old when it was discovered.

The child's parents discovered swelling in his scrotum and “two skin projections”.

Further investigation was soon carried out to discover more.

Stunned doctors later realised that those skin projections were actually penises – 2cm and 1cm in length – with only one of the extra two having a head.

They then diagnosed the tot with the world's first-ever case of triphallia.

The boy's extra penises were both non-functional, it is said, so surgery was "less complicated".

Medical journal International Journal of Surgery Case Reports has detailed the case in the Kurdistan Region.

Dr Shakir Saleem Jabali, the author of the report, says each case had a 'unique presentation'.

Writing in the journal, he said: "To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case with three penises or triphallia.

"No similar case is present in literature in human beings."

They did not perform like functioning organs, the experts said.

Doctors first diagnosed supernumerary penises over 400 years ago after a baby was born with two.

The condition is said to affect one in every five to six million births, it is reported.

Around 100 cases of babies born with two penises have been reported, with both working in some cases.

Lmao this is probably due to all the fucked up pollution and plastic in our waters, plus the inbreeding in iraq lol
And all those depleted uranium ammo rounds fired in Iraq, because some state in the Middle East is someone's greatest ally.

He was blessed by the gods for the deeds he performed in his previous life

On one hand it's kinda fucked to want to see pictures, because it's a newborn.

On the other hand it's a medical thing.
The image is in the medical article, translating the medical text: they had functional tissue, but they were in wrong places. These extra penises looked like papilloma lesions IMO.

Surgery was performed under general anesthesia, during surgery the hydrocele sac (the patent processus vaginalis) was ligated at the inguinal canal.

The two supernumerary penises were extending up to perineal region and were attached to original penis, both had corpora cavernosum and spongiosum with no urethra inside. Both supernumerary penises were excised and both corpora were sutured with a fine slowly absorbable suture material, the skin was then sutured with fine interrupted suture material.

A baby boy has had to undergo surgery in what is thought to be the first case of a human being born with three penises.

The three-month-old, from Iraq, was presented to hospital with two extra penises in his perineum, according to his case in International Journal of Surgery Case Reports.

The perineum refers to the area of the body between the genitals and the anus.
Doctors noted one of the extra appendages was attached to the root of his penis and was 2cm while the other was 1cm and below the scrotum.

They also noted no urethra was found in either of the extra two and both were removed.

He had originally been brought in due to swelling in the scrotum and this was also treated by doctors.

The boy returned to hospital a year later with no further complications.

Boy's condition thought to be world first

“Triphallia (three penises) is an unreported condition in humans until now,” researchers wrote.

“Patients with supernumerary penises have unique presentations and no cases are identical.”

Researchers wrote treatment for the condition was “difficult” because it posed “medical, ethical, and cosmetic” issues.

“A combined multidisciplinary team is required for the management and long-term follow up is required,” they wrote.

“Excision or reconstruction of the duplicate penis is required depending on the corporal development and anatomy of the urethra.”

Researchers also noted duplication of the penis is involved in only one in five to six million births, but the boy’s case was the only reported one with three.

About 100 cases of diphallia, or someone born with two, have been reported.

“To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case with three penises or triphallia as no similar case is present in literature in human beings,” they wrote.

“This will add to literature because this may change the classification of multiple penises and help the authors for standardising the management plans according to individual cases.”
