This one?

When I was a kid my family visited a few African Methodist Episcopal Churches in the Southern US, I had questions why the loudest 'praise god' black women openly chatted with each other about having a different 'boyfriend' to pay each of their bills plus receiving government assistance. Those questions were never answered to my satisfaction.

5.5. George Floyd's DEATH was plenty marketable. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Guilty as he probably was I still feel kinda bad for Floyd in terms of his legacy. His family immediately exploited the shit out of his death to become millionaires set for life and the government and media are dancing his corpse around like a puppet. Being forgotten would probably be a nobler way to go than your only legacy being a political tool forever.

Well, this is what we call justice. Some criminal gets dead, his family of scum gets rich. Hoo raw. Justice for all. . .except the dead guy.

At least his kid(s) will be okay with all the money they've gotten. They're going to have a cozy life. I just hope they don't grow up to do fuck all but puppet Floyd's corpse around with the rest. Better legacy than most can hope for.

Looks like some kind of racist stereotype or an incomplete Easter Island Head.

I wonder if they posted the crease pattern. It doesn't look like the nostrils are real, but I'd still be amused confirming it.

only a jury like this could find Chauvin guilty

What a weird cross section.
  • There are 9 women and 5 men. The women outnumber the men nearly 2:1. But, there are 3 black men to the 1 black woman. Pretty sure black men are more likely than black women to get DQed from jury duty (gotta avoid dying or getting a felony). That's a lot of black men.
  • Possibly related to the above, two of the three black men are immigrants and married fathers. (for 79, I'm assuming not being from America + qualifies for Jury Duty = immigrated)
  • The one black woman graduated college, got a reasonable sounding degree, but did not get a job in her field. She is a 60 year old grandma so I'm assuming she got the degree long enough ago that she predated the affirmative action, diversity grants, and lowered standards colleges use to boost their black population today. That degree might actually be an impressive achievement.
  • The one single mother is white
  • 9 and 92 make me nervous, they actually put their emotions into their descriptions. Excited and terrified.
  • The one person who wants to be a juror the most has the least identifying information.
The irony, the jury won't know this. They aren't allowed to read newspapers, watch the news, or even TALK to anyone outside the jury itself for the duration. They can't even leave their, segregated, rooms without supervision.
How does that work? I already thought the anonymity was at risk because anyone close to them is going to realize they haven't gone to work for a month... Now they aren't going home for a month either?

I assume to really keep them pure, they aren't allowed Internet either? So many forms of entertainment they can't use...

Jurors really should get paid like double their regular salary for doing this. One times their salary for doing work and to ensure they can keep paying the bills. Another time their salary because they are basically giving up their personal time too.

Do you have a source for this? I'd like to read into it more.
I don't know about written sources, but sometimes Summit Properties NW on YouTube mentions it. I think they described it as being based on how close your zip code is to a high risk zip code, so it's a little more than the hot zones that have problems.

Took them awhile to get there but I think having a police lieutenant straight up say that yeah, Chauvin should have been doing CPR or something as he is trained to do is pretty compelling.
The defense was only really able to say that "It was complicated."
I'd agree with the defense here, and if they didn't elaborate on how it was complicated then they fucked up. The incident occurred May 25th, 2020.

In April, law enforcement in Minnesota had their pandemic PPE already, but they didn't have enough PPE, so there were sob stories of cops giving their masks away to medical personnel. There were legitimate reasons why it would be considered safer - both for Floyd and for Chauvin - if every effort was made to avoid having them look at eachother face to face and breathing on eachother and especially don't breath from one of their mouths into the other! And that's even if we ignore the drugs and mouth foam.

To put into perspective just how seriously Minnesota and Minneapolis in particular were taking the pandemic at the time, on May 26th they started enforcing a mask mandate with a $1000 fine. And that was after the lockdowns started, so people didn't have a job to pay the fine with. If May 25th - the day Floyd died - weren't Memorial day, then I think the mandate would have already been in effect. Even though Chauvin was not enforcing the mandate yet, I'm sure he was at least aware that literally 24 hours later he would have to, and that that was how important it was that he avoid face to face breathing.

Sequestering the jury is super fucking important in any high-profile case, especially this one. They have to be sequestered. It's not a question.

Its actually questionable whether or not his kids will ever see a dime of this money. IRRC the city settled with whatever constitutes as his "family" for 27million or something absurd like that, which sounds like a lot of money until you start reading up on what the lives of the families of the other BLM "Saints" and their families are like.

Tamir Rice, Mike Brown I think even Trayvon Martin's mothers basically had to split the money with various nebulous baby daddy's and what not, and thats before all the Sharpton's and Ben Crumps and "Community Organizers" come with their hands out now that you OWE them a cut for making your dead ex-con a civil rights icon. The Movement needs that money to keep going so how much you finna' donate? Then black "families" are fucking gigantic hives of cousins and half brothers and uncles and nephews and nieces and baby mommas and daddy's and they are all going to come at you with their hands out. Oh, then you need to start your OWN initiative or foundation to try and capitalize off of your sudden fame. A lot of these families that get these gigantic settlements are like lottery winners, they end up broke in a couple years, or the kids see none of it, or it gets grifted away from them.

They really should make some kind of reality TV show about it.

I'm not doubting the importance of it, but the logistics. In this case where they have to be anonymous, I feel like the people physically close to them are going to notice they haven't existed for a month that just so happens to overlap with when the trial takes place.

I was already worried about if they didn't show up for work on days that conveniently correlate with the trial, but eh they could be working from home. If they're not seen anywhere else either and they just re-appear after the trial, an angry neighbor could easily dox them.

The Boondocks is the cartoon version where the family isn't retarded. Dude bought a house in a nice neighborhood.

You're not wrong. There's also the phenomenon of "n-bomb rich" where someone gets a million dollars and instead of thinking, "How can I make this money work for me for the rest of my life?" they think "This is time to buy every single luxury item that ever crossed my mind."

$20 million should have gone right to the kids in some kind of trust where they get their educations paid for and a modest amount every month until they turn 25. Let the various screeching cousins and reverends fight over the rest.

Wish we had a optimistic rating. Lord knows the mom will be buying expensive liquor, weaves, clothes, cars, purses, rims and all that other stuff while the kid is last in line for any actual care.

Edit:i guarantee BLM is expecting a cut
Everyone knows in the nigga world, a nigga can't have anything nice when the brothas and sistas find out

I mean to be fair i think anyone would be going nuts with it like that at least at first if they suddenly got millions of dollars all at once
