Youtube testing removing ability to see number of likes and dislikes on all videos - Youtube wasn't enough of a inoffensive corporate hug-box already.

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

Testing new designs for the like and dislike buttons - YouTube Community

3 days
We’ll be experimenting, with a small group of users, a few potential designs for the like and dislike buttons that appear below YouTube videos.

Viewer feedback has always been, and will continue to be, an important part of YouTube. But we've heard from creators that the public dislike counts can impact their wellbeing, and may motivate a targeted campaign of dislikes on a creator’s video. So, we're testing designs that don’t include the visible like or dislike count in an effort to balance improving the creator experience, while still making sure viewer feedback is accounted for and shared with the creator.

One of the potential designs for the dislike button that doesn’t include a visible dislike count.

Creators, you'll still be able to see the exact number of likes and dislikes in YouTube Studio. For viewers, if you're in the experiment, you can still like or dislike a video to share feedback with creators and help tune the recommendations you see on YouTube.
We know you may have some questions about how this is going to work, so here’s some more info:
FAQs:
Q: If I’m in this experiment, can I opt out?

A: Currently, there's no way to opt out of this experiment. If you have feedback about the new designs, you can share your thoughts in the replies on this post or through the steps here. We’ll be monitoring feedback closely to help us determine if, when, and how to release designs like this more broadly.

Q: Are you removing the dislike button?
A: No, we’re just experimenting with a few designs that don’t show the dislike counts. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the feedback from these experiments to determine what decisions we may want to make in the future.

Let us know if you have any questions or comments in the replies below. We’ll be monitoring all of your feedback closely as we start to test these new designs.

Our fathers and grandfathers (and even some of us) fought in wars and shit, man.

What the fuck happened to us?

My grandfather killed Nazis. Not mean people on Twitter. Sieg heil mein furor Nazis. And in just a few generations we have babbies on Youtube who are LITERALLY SHAKING when they see a dislike on their video.

Holy participation trophies Batman! If you need a gigantic asspat in the form of the illusion no one has disliked your video then you are a pathetic toddler.

Speaking of war, imagine if these adult toddlers got drafted?

Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times.

It’s pretty much just the wheel of history turning like it always has.

It almost makes me wish that Covid had caused irl The Stand. Because guess who would be the first to die in a post-apocalyptic hell?😏

Here's a perfect solution to this issue: hide the dislikes by default and make the ability to see them an opt-in, so that properly developed people will be able to see the actual feedback on the video and literal manchildren will stay in their little illusion bubble where they'll believe absolutely no one hates them. In a perfect scenario none of this fuckery would be necessary, but unfortunately our species has devolved to a point where just a thought of a hairstyle causes people to cry and shit themselves, and it's everyone else's fault for that.

This isn't about feedback and wellbeing, it's about neutering social proof.
Sometimes ideas are socially acceptable while plenty of people find them disagreeable. It takes only a few people actively disagreeing to give others courage to publicly disagree as well, and suddenly a bad idea is dropped like a hot potato.
How can you mount effective disagreement and resistance if you feel completely alone?
Wasn't this done following a request by the Biden admin?

They already did this with disqus awhile back for the same reason: muh feels basically. Didn't twitter at one time have a thumbs down ratio as well? Of course now ratio'ing is the only way to get a decent measurement of the popularity of a given tweet.

14 year old boys lied about their age to go to fields of Flanders in the Great War to now where some 35 yo man would have a breakdown if some spergs dislike his vid. I thought you could always disable ratings. A high or low dislike ratio can really say so much about a vid.

If you can't handle people disliking your content then maybe being on the internet isn't for you.....
Youtube has been trash for a long time now, time to head over to alternative platforms.

Problem is that they push all their niggerloving bullshit and virtue signalling censorship onto those other platforms like bitchute.
