Peetz could have a better quality of life, but it would 100% require Chantal eating herself into a diabetic coma first. OR being hospitalized for a long time and needing more care and financial support than Peetz can provide. That would be his only ticket out of the luxury dump and back to something more affordable with his mom. I wouldn't even judge him for that decision either. He'd be much better off (Timbit too).

The reality is: Chantal's habits have become his habits as evidenced by how much weight he's gained and how depressed he is after 1 year of sharing a space with her. This 'freeennnnnnnship' is not this sweet forever platonic thing he wants it to be. It's 2 broken people with a co-dependency problem that have settled for each other because the alternative is being Forever Alone.

What they have together is a long history and a mutual acceptance of each other's filth. They have the kind of liberation that a child might feel if a parent left them the keys to the house. No rules! No chores. You can eat ICE CREAM for dinner if you want. This is how Peetz and Chantal live, except the consequences of living life on Easy Mode are finally catching up.

Three to six months is the usual exclusion period before they'll deem a patient as qualifying for WLS. It's not about their ability to tolerate the anesthesia, it's about transfer addiction post surgery. Just as they require patients to prove before surgery that they can change their eating habits, they also require proof they won't just transfer their addictions to anything else. Cannabinoids, in the same way as nicotine, are known to cause gastric and duodenal ulcers. Post WLS, the smaller pouch makes patients much more prone to developing ulcers, and patients are told they can never use those substances again. If a patient is known to be using them prior to WLS, a long exclusion period will be imposed before a surgeon will operate...and the surgeon will definitely be testing for compliance prior to performing any surgery.

Living with a non-Chantal roommate would require him to give some effort however small. Whilst i don't feel sorry for her per se, it's very interesting to see her mental health deteriorate through her own doing. I can only find one paper, with extremely questionable methodology, conducted using SYNTHETIC cannabinoids, and the crux of that paper was actually gastric emptying. Nicotine works entirely differently, and is much better studied. Let's pump the brakes there, doctor professor. You can't smoke anything because of post-op healing concerns; it doesn't have fuck-all to do with transfer addictions, and no one is told they can never smoke pot or vape again or they DIE OF SUPER ULCERS, Dr. Google. Chantal could very easily find someone to give her WLS in the US, Mexico or a private clinic in Canada. She'll only have to jump through hoops, which vary wildly by surgeon and clinic, to get it covered by her province's healthcare because they need to siphon a bunch out of the herd to save $$ and ration services.
