Women who used Lupron a decade or more ago to delay puberty or grow taller described the short-term side effects listed on the pediatric label: pain at the injection site, mood swings and headaches. Yet they also described conditions that usually affect people much later in life. A 20-year-old from South Carolina was diagnosed with osteopenia, a thinning of the bones, while a 25 year-old from Pennsylvania has osteoporosis and a cracked spine. A 26 year-old in Massachusetts needed a total hip replacement. A 25-year-old in Wisconsin, like Derricott, has chronic pain and degenerative disc disease.

Who would have thought that messing around with hormones at a critical phase of development would have long term and lifelong effects?

If the FDA reaches any conclusions, Derricott would like to know. She says she took Lupron from age 5 to 12 to shut down early puberty. At 30, she’s among the first patients who took the drug — even before it was approved for pediatric use. She says now that she’s had more surgeries than her 79-year-old father, and suffers from a blood disorder and bone and joint problems.

Aren't these the people who claim to be "pro-science"? What's even what they understand by it because it looks like they think you can just stop your puberty until you decide what you wanna be, then stop the procedure and everything will be normal.

What they hate about puberty, anyway? I can't even remember mine and I doubt anyone can remember theirs unless there is some very specific issue that most people have (like acne or voice change in awkward moments). You have to be a very specific type of fragile if growing hair in your crotch disturbs you. I wonder if the problem is that their parents never were honest with them about the subject. My mother prepared me for my period and I kinda knew what to expect.

I imagine puberty was unpleasant for most people, but I doubt it was truly traumatizing. Acne, braces, and being horny 24/7 makes some guys creepy little fuckers, but they usually grow out of it around age 18. I imagine girls getting their first period was horrifying maybe, idk I'm not a woman.

Tbh when I was a kid at some point I decided I really hated hornets. So I would knock down their nests. This really pisses hornets off. So I had a retreat plan. And then I would come back and stomp them again. And retreat. And then stomp them again. And retreat. We had a swimming pool so I'd often just dive into that. Good luck swimming, hornets!

I usually got stung once or twice, but I'd generally finish it off, eventually.
