The before and after state of that land is a fucking tragedy. Ecosystems like that can take decades to recover due to the harsh conditions, and even longer if the topsoil is damaged or destroyed like what the tranchers are doing. Topsoil degradation and loss is the first step towards desertification of these arid but healthy ecosystems. I hope their neighbors enjoy breathing a lot of dust as they also get shot at.

The before photos show perennial native grasses and wildflowers with deep root systems that anchor the soil. Unlike annual crops that complete their life cycle in a single year, these plants live year after year, growing slowly due to the poor conditions. Their roots grow deep to access ground water, and they hold the topsoil in place against flash flooding and high wind. With those plants gone and the soil disturbed from too many animals, the topsoil will wash away or be taken by the wind as dust. Without topsoil, no new plants can grow. The tranchers have created a wasteland out of what was once a living, healthy ecosystems. Starving lambs and dying land, all while they're out irresponsibly playing with guns like toys.

It's also painted them in a corner because they've made bold claims that they will gun down anyone who is trespassing and armed, but they've also made claims that they've countered armed trespassers and sent them running. They can't make that same claim much in the future because eventually people will start asking "Why didn't you shoot them?" And the militia thing is really retarded anyways because why would anyone risk their lives over some trannies with Asperger's when if they really wanted to kill them or drive them off their land they could easily do it by making up some fire bombs and dropping them out of a little crop duster airplane onto their house and barn. Easy peasy Japanese-y, and much simpler than organizing a militia that could be infiltrated by Feds or you could be identified/shot while trespassing.
