$ (BAT) Basic Attention Token

They are trying to convince Amazon to accept BAT as a form of payment from what I hear. Would be a huge coup if that happened.
That would be amazing if they managed to pull that off. I wouldn't see why that couldn't be a viable alternative anyways. If Amazon where to accept BAT, easily the surge in just not only alternative coins, but crypto all together would go through the fucking roof. Considering that it is based on ETH, easily we could see such a huge surge in value for the entire crypto network it would be crazy. Not like block-chain exchanges are taboo anymore like in the pre-mainline wallet days anyways. This medium of technology needs to have the ability to evolve anyways, though seeing the current push to try to turn the crypto exchange into 3 different types of mediums of exchange legally is going to cause a lot of problems. Sort of like how the Gods Chosen tried to kill precious metals, despite the resistance over the last century to that paradigm. BAT in my honest opinion has the most potential in regards of completely revolutionizing exchange on the web as we know it. The early adopters, like a lot of us on the forum are going to be quite satisfied, even with in the next quarter.

This is one of those exchange currencies that normies could even appreciate. I want to investigate how to learn how their wallets work through the web on an developer point of view. Kind of strange that @Null has such issues with how the browser doesn't properly transfer BAT from when a forum member contributes through the browser. I would have to say that would be an major roadblock for the growth of the currency, if the Brave Foundation doesn't manage to work out those quirks. Not sure if it is an issue with how the processing of those transactions through the browser operates, because at that standpoint I would have to think that it would be very resource intensive in Braves current iteration. Hence why I look at the network upgrades they are proposing as very beneficial to their platform. Hence that could address some of the issues from that means of transfer, especially when it is an engrained feature that is promoted on the browser.

I can only say because I ended up getting the uphold wallet, despite the premium attached. Though in Canada, Uphold seems to be able to have the certifications to be able to accept my Mastercard. Coin base is a complete mother fucker at this rate where I am at. I think it is more of an issue through how the Uphold exchanges are handled, because most people will be utilizing the default wallet engrained with in the browser anyways. Again this is mainly just conjecture on my end, though I am still just doing my best to wrap my head around how the future of BAT is going to evolve. I did catch me by surprise to see it going up to a dollar though, so BAT with in the next year will be easily $5-$10 a coin. If Amazon actually adopts it, the flutter-shy rainbows are spraying out of the gootch like a water park.

So what’s everyone’s plan with this, sell at 100 or hold until retirement?

Hmm... does one's country of origin impact the flow of Brave-supported advertisements? I've turned on the "Brave Rewards" function two days ago in order to scrounge up some BATs, and have yet to receive a single advertisement notification.

I have resolved my issues with not receiving ads at all by turning windows notifications back on, now over the course of two days I have added an entire .17 cents to my wages by shitposting on the farms while I work my fulltime remote job.

I already have that turned on but I receive a handful of notifications... what gives? :/

I dunno if it can be worth 100 dollars. There is still the issue with the Ethereum peg in the white paper that still confuses me. It says its pegged to ETH at 6400 per, but its price has always been unmoored from that. I suppose if ETH continues to increase in value so will BAT. Maybe someone more knowledgable can chime in, but is the ETH peg just an absolute floor? As in it cannot drop lower then that?

wtf occurred 15th-21st for BAT?
Why does it matter what happened that particular week? It's a minor fluctuation that won't even be visible in longer timescales. It reached a price level of 1 dollar (and 1 euro immediately after), followed by some people taking the profits from their accumulated BATs.

6400 BAT for 1 ETH was the price at the time of the initial coin offering (ICO) in 2017. It's no longer relevant, there's no ETH peg.

I believe the extra spike in value on the 17th was as soon as Grayscale announced it had added BAT to its investment trust portfolio. I mentioned that a couple pages back right here.

E: I got the details mixed up on this, the initial rise from .75 to over a dollar was probably just general Brave developments such as its own search engine being announced. Grayscale specifically happened about a day after it broke $1 the first time.

a little less than a $.50 jump in a week is something worth noting and checking in on. I am interested in BAT since joining the farms and learning/starting to use the Brave browser. Just general interest.

BAT solves a problem that has plagued the internet economy since the 1990s. How do you get users to interact with Ads? This led to nightmare websites of Ads everywhere, the dreaded "pop up" window, and other abominations that led people to install ad blocking software. Google partially solved the problem with search. People are looking for things, throw in an Ad that tracks closely to what they are looking for. This partial solution made google a fucking juggernaut. Billions of dollars. But it's still a partial solution. Someone already had to be in the market so the Ad was not really convincing them to do something they were not going to do already. It also tracked imperfectly and people paying google for the clicks had no guarantees their SEO would actually result in engagement.

BAT on the other hand solves the problem perfectly with a simple solution. Pay the potential customer for their time. It's the same method Costco uses to convince you to buy some over priced frozen appetizers by simply giving you some of it. Try this thing you never considered buying! And it works. Look at all the posts in this thread by people complaining they arent getting ENOUGH ads. That is a wtf moment for someone who remembers having to close down dozens of pop ups back in the day. And digital advertising is absolutely huge business. Even better, they want to integrate the BAT wallet into online purchasing ability, where people could use BAT to make online payments. This on top of it's current ability to pay for websites. Like this one.

That is what makes this internet funny money very cool. And very under valued.

You're correct, with one "but" that needs to be inserted - as soon as this method becomes viable, popular, and widespread, you'll immediately get Chinese sweatshops full of underpaid employees spamming ads, thus generating revenue. After a while both Brave and the advertisers will catch on, and either introduce severe limitations, or just outright withdraw from the program.

No. Users with IP addresses from Chinese sweatshops just won't get any ads.
