General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

ID girls might as well as invest in StarLink internet so they can stream with ease. Its universal monthly cost might be expensive for SEA region but at least it’s better than the current gig they had.
What was StarLink again? It was Elon Musk's ISP or something right? I'm interested to know more. The internet here sucks and the state-owned company basically monopolize everything
Our la la lion is living the dream, she is going to be shilling No More Heroes 3 with Mafia and SUDA51

Edit: wait does that mean Hololive has permits to play SUDA51 games?
For some reason I want to see Hachamaa or Pekora playing it
e: Seems like all Asian YT servers are fucked. Thanks Susan.
There has to be something going on with Google or Youtube's Asia server. Its down quite frequently compared to US/Europe ones

It's like 100$ a month for above-average internet via satellite (I think a 400$ installation cost though since you need a dish), so you can basically be in the middle of nowhere but as long as you're in the path of the StarLink satellites you should have a stable connection.

Note that it is coming to Indonesia in like early 2022 and while all HoloID are very capable to pay for Starlink, I can only think of Reine or Ollie doing that. Depends on what internet plans they are using right now.

He wants to put a gigantic mesh of low Earth orbit satellites around the globe to basically allow worldwide internet access. It's honestly one of the most exciting technology projects going on right now.

Elon Musk satellite network, it become a talking point here on Venezuela because he is charging what the fucking thieves of our ISP are charging for internet connection according to Linus it put 120-150 mb/s with less than 90 of ping (the speed is going to be faster as more satellites get deployed), thats like 1000000000 better than anything we have here so people was trying to buy it to bring them here and cuck the parasites that are charging the same money for sub par 4g lte pseudo internet

Sadly for now is invitation only but the money launderers are sweating bullets at the possibility of Starlink becoming a mainstay here

Sounds terrifying and I hope it never becomes a reality.
Imagine having that much power.

It’s more convenient for consumer, when it’s up and run with cheaper and cheaper subscription, cable based ISP will be out of business or force convert all of their rig into fiber and charge lower in order to compete.
Amelia recently moved to place where fiber network is available hence her stupidly high speed internet. (Though it might be the first or second year contract before the ISP try to be cute and overcharge them again.) With StarLink, monthly subscription is guarantee fixed price and speed slowly increase as more and more satellite deploys. I’ll say it’s a good deal overall.

Turn out the Hoshikuzu had been watching Hoshikawa's stream from her basement and under the bed all along. Also nice edit at the end.

Even when telling a horror story, Hoshikawa has her priorities straight unlike her preference.

One of the reasons that internet costs in the United States are so fucking expensive is that ISPs 'own' the hookup from the utility lines to your house. If you want to use another provider, you or the ISP has to pay to hook up a new connection to your house. That's been one of the major hurdles new ISPs have to contend with. It leads to natural monopolies in areas where you'll have one option for cable, and one option for DSL, and that's it.

In other countries, such as Britain, it's required by law that no matter the ISP that owns the connection they have to lease the use of the line to other ISPs at a reasonable cost. It leads to lower prices overall, and an incentive for the ISPs to compete with each other.

Even if those concepts never change, StarLink is set to provide some SERIOUS competition for a lot of regular ISPs. A guy from Saskatchewan Canada at about 52.46N latitude shared this series of speed tests the other day. It's pretty goddamn impressive. Even with the dip to 14.8 Mbps he experienced, he said it was SEVEN times faster than his old ISP at that speed.

For places like Indonesia or other remote areas where getting this infrastructure built is either impossible or too damn expensive, it'll be game changing. It also bypasses governments that might be super corrupt and require bribes to get anything done. (Central Africa as an example).

Sounds terrifying and I hope it never becomes a reality.

My money is on Bezos becoming a Bond villain before Musk, personally.

Not to mention these ISP fucks took government money for fiber roll-out and then just expanded into higher-income towns & neighborhoods and then kept the rest. I want fiber internet, but it's not available in my town where Xfinity is the only high-speed option (DSL) with the other ISP competition in the area being gimped.

I'm in a dense suburban neighborhood just 20-30 minutes away from a major US metro hub and I want to stab that Canadian motherfucker out in the boonies who has fucking way faster internet than I do.

In our case we only have 1 ISP that provided fiber internet that is absolutely garbage because it was nationalized and the commies discouraged other options on the table, now? is next to impossible to get a new line and if you want one you will have to find some technician willing to connect you and someone with a line that want to give it to you and that cost like 1000$ between the two and the speed is capped at 6 mbps, if you try to change it they will just flat refuse to do it ot they refuse to give you the speed and charge 10 times the price

The other options are "approved" services providers that use 4G LTE to provide you with very unstable internet, the most cheaper charge you with 500$ that include the modem, the installation and several months upfront that if you are eligible, if not you still have to pay them to come to check if the signal is stable, they get LTE speeds but the prices are absolutely ridiculous like charging for 20 mbps almost 70 $ but because there is not any better people has to deal with them

When Starlink was announced there were movements of people trying to get the antennas but they did not notice for now is invite only, i expect Starlink becoming mainstay with people bringing it from outside and just paying the fees from other countries so their families can enjoy the internet in Venezuela, but far as i know there are not any satellites deployed here (there is no regional block except for places where satellites have not been deployed)

And no, it would not be something new it happened when Directv was yeeted with people bringing antennas and decodifiers from Colombia to sell them here
