Look on the bright side, it looks like Israel's doing some field testing of the F-35 against the Syrian air defenses for us. I assume they're hitting Hezbollah or attempting to. Weird the State Department is simping for the Iranians though, they're usually bought and paid for by the Saudis.

The Obama admin simped hard for the Iranians all so Obama could get that deal for his "legacy", and since Orange Man tore it up, clearly the only thing to do is send yet more pallets of cash in apology, and some pre-enriched uranium to get them started on their "totally peaceful nuclear program". No, I know Obama and the Neo-Libs love sucking Iranian cock but it's more that the US State Department is bought and paid for by the Saudis. It's not a Trump thing, it's been like this for decades. The F-35 is rated to go Mach 1.6 as far as they'll tell us. That is much slower than the Mach 1.2 that the F-16 and F-15C do at sea level, sure. I know Boeing was butt hurt their Happy Boy lost.

Maybe the airframe can handle it, but from what I've been told by the pilots that were involved in early testing, it was like flying a cadillac. Most of them were originally harrier pilots and they're not exactly fast either. I'm pretty sure they were testing the VSTOL version.

There's plenty of blame to go around and they deserve their share of it. They chose to vote for a man with obvious dementia and a woman whos only really political skill is sucking cock and it's not even a secret. I don't care that they didn't like Trump, that doesn't absolve them of being fucking morons. This is what they were voting for, you don't get to let them off the hook just because the political establishment didn't like Trump. The only thing they deserve is a "You fucking dumbass." Because they are.
The Harrier is a completely different plane that can't even go supersonic, that doesn't even really jive with what we've seen from them in exercises. Every American fighter program has been an utterly expensive boondoggle until it isn't. The F-15 was accused of the same things, and that shits on everything. There's a very institutional line of thought in fight doctrine circles that still thinks a super cheap, radar less F-16 with a pair of missiles and a gun is the ideal jet fighter and anything that deviates from that is awful. Also, Boeing had it's people out trashing the F-35 from the wood go because they want to sell the Air Force the F-15X. The F-35 isn't the best thing ever, but it's a damn sight better than the F-16s and F/A-18s and AV-8s it's meant to replace.

I know that, but just because the Establishment put its entire hand on the scale doesn't absolve them. The Establishment cheated because Trump was a threat to their grifts and power.
