I often wonder if I work with Phil fans. In my career the average person will make 250k-400k USD per year so they have lots of disposable income and I think..what if this dude was OIC? I think to myself "I keep up with this retard surely other people around me do" and then I think "no way other people do" and then I think "that dude would definitely give Phil money"

I feel like I am not alone in this. How many if you feel like you work with a dude like Jax raxxor/rapture or ThePastriachy? Smart guys but socially inept? Likely in technology, sales, dev ops, or some sort of UX? Anyways....I'd never ask anyone because I feel like my watching Phil is akin to my wife watching real housewives or temptation island but u also realize I'm just watching til I see the conclusion of the train wreck. When will this journey end ?

I have no problem acknowledging Phil has at least some whales that make decent money, possess something resembling a real life skill set and don't just rely on disability checks to pay Phil, but calling them smart? That's harder to do. Phil's fans are socially inept for sure, but there's no shortage of socially inept people online, and they aren't dedicating their lives/paychecks to something as meaningless as becoming a mod in Phil's chat or whatever. A lot of them have their own money sinks, but they're at least getting *something* out of those.

There have definitely been some supporters who are pretty social inept/naive, the only reason I wouldn't call them dumb is, whenever there's some kind of drama, they tend to see through Phil's lies and stop supporting. IMO, they feel like a significantly rarer breed these days because Phil has burned through so many of them. Lately, Phil has pretty much relied on the support of a few whales, but back in the day, while there were some whales that stood out, he was getting a fair amount of smaller donations from more "average" viewers, who legitimately believed he was struggling with taxes or whatever and just needed help to get by one month. And then, oh no, Phil has really bad luck, there was another emergency, but Phil said that big donation should cover the next month, so he's good again. But, oh no, right before his day off, unspecified emergency. They caught on and stopped supporting. It goes even faster with notable scams, like the Jasper reveal. I think that was a big wakeup call for some of those "average" supporters.

I doubt Phil pulls in many new viewers, and he certainly doesn't retain them, so that means anyone still supporting and whaling for him has been doing so for a long, long time. Through countless "emergencies" and scams, and if they still support Phil after that, while getting absolutely nothing in return, or sometimes openly mocked in the case of OiC, well, that's pretty dumb.

Totally agree with equating watching Phil to watching trashy reality TV, though, I definitely consider it my guilty pleasure.

I know these feels. I have a family member approaching 30 who still rocks wrestling merch and lives with his mom. I've wondered and even thought about bringing up the subject of Twitch streamers, maybe segue into DSP just to gauge their reaction. But then get ahold of myself and realize that talking about DSP to anyone IRL is just spinning too far down the autism hole.

Cinnamon died on 12 OCT, 2016.
Raisin died on 31 JAN, 2017.

He had an appointment but cancelled it one day before, because Katherine had her day off on that very same day. His wife would be cranky if he decided to deal with his health, so now he has to wait again.
If the appointment was true to begin with.

Yeah, especially in fighting games. He also has a weird habit of saying "I tried to do x, didn't work" as if the mere act of trying to do something means it HAS TO work in his tiny mind.

Both his CoD and fighting game videos/streams are like a Twilight Zone episode to me. Regarding the former, I watched 15 minutes of a Tevin restream of Black Ops 3, then 15 minutes of an old LSB restream of Black Ops 4 and 15 minutes the most recent LSB Cold War restream. They're almost indistinguishable, it's just him sucking at the game, bitching about lag and using the same half a dozen tired excuses he always does - I shot first but died, I didn't see the enemy/he didn't render on my screen, I just spawned, this isn't realistic.
Regarding the latter, it's pretty much the same thing. Lheg, couldn't blawk, move didn't come out, rhendom super, I did X but the stupid game gave me Y, the game gave him the move he needed to win (as if "the game" is some sentient being that doles out moves to players like a fucking slot machine). It doesn't matter what he plays, he can be playing Street Fighter, KoF, Guilty Gear, Tekken, SoulCalibur, Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter or Goiken Muyou II on a PSX emulator played through Parsec, it's always going to be the same exact tired complaints we've already all heard from him thousands of times already.

Something else I noticed from another youtube last night but DSP also does regularly, when he starts to lose to the same sort of thing repeatedly he'll start to claim he's bored. He could be clowning it up just minutes later, but suddenly he's bored and that's why he keeps dying. See the Smelter Demon fight in the Dark Souls 2 DLC. Other guy I was watching plays League of Legends and is usually good, but sometimes gets overconfident and after a string of needless deaths he started saying "yeah, I'm getting bored" while still criticizing his teammates.

It's so transparent.

So it's been a while since I played SSF2ST, but, I'm pretty fucking sure, not 100% cause there's always that small small small chance that if you do a Tatsu (QCB+K) and you get a DP (F, D, DF+P) it's not the game giving you the wrong move. Another thing I'm kinda sure of but again it's been a while, if you constantly do moves on wake up that are unsafe and have zero invincibility frame it's not LAHG or dropped frames, is STOP DOING MOVES ON WAKE UP...jesus phil.

That's what amazes me about phil, he's mr fighitng game don't listen to wong or max, DSP tells it like it is, he placed 4th at evo. Yet he does things that you see in low low ranks of any fighting game like random supers, unsafe moves on wake up, not blocking.

His excuses I kinda see, not excusing them but with the FGC having to have gone online the amount of pros that bitch like he does it's almost like it's something that people do in the FGC, they don't lose to someone online cause they were better it's that it's not roll back netcode, it's dropped inputs, it's frame delay. There couldn't be some rando who's just naturally good at the game just doesn't care enough to go to locals or can't, nope it game let them win. I can think of like 3-4 streamers or are pros who started to stream that don't fall back on DSP like excuses and will admit when they messed up.

So I see where he gets that from, but his gin brain hears an issue with a game and if it's effecting him or not thats why he's losing. Look at OW, in the beginning Bliz was using slow servers and favor the shooter lag compensation. It was really obvious if you played Tracer or Genji or were the victim of hanzo and his red wood arrows. DSP played Mr CoD and bitched about McCree and since he read about complaints with the servers and lag compensation making the kill cam not show what you were seeing that was why he sucked not cause he sucks at the game. To this day he uses the same excuse for EVERY competitive FPS.

At this point I think it's just auto pilot. He's losing - pull random excuse from the pile. shit he even makes the Fighting game complaints for platformers. Mario is dropping his inputs.
