Lol, and the ironic thing is that Jesse Singal is like Public Enemy #1 among twitter troons & lolcows. I know Brianna Wu, Becky Gerber, Jake Alley, and Arthur Chu all virulently hate his guts, for example. Jake "SecretGamerGrrl" Alley even likes to claim that Singal stalks and wants to rape him.

I don't know the full story behind all this. I think it's just because he's a journalist that often reports on troon stuff without 100% kissing their asses. No matter how nice, polite, and fair he tries to be about it, it's never good enough for the troons. Just bizarre.

Graham Linehan is a bit of a lolcow himself, but he's definitely on the right track here. Apologizing to troons or trying to coddle their feelings is a waste of time. Counterproductive, even.

I believed that Singal and Herzog might have been on the right track at first. Extending a bit of niceness and all that. Don't know anymore. Linnehan's autistic approach to this stuff appeals to me more and more.

I suppose when I talk about people with gender dysphoria, I'm mostly referring to old-school "transsexuals". Even then, it was nowhere near as common as being LGB, much rarer in fact. And I didn't mean to say that those with mental illnesses are born with it from day 1, but there is a genetic component to having it.

I guess I answered "I don't care" one too many times. But that's because most people, myself included, are not hyper-obsessed with "feeling" the sex that they are, it's simply an inborn fact about themselves.

Also, "It's always good to check if I'm actually trans." Lol, wut? Is being trans something you need to constantly "check"? I thought it was supposed to be an innate trait you had, not something you need to constantly monitor. This is like when CWC thought he had to stare at a Sailor Moon poster all the time or else he would cease to be straight.

I like how JS and KH rile and annoy abominanble people like Joe Lavery, recently I think they feel the heat from the TRA nutjob brigade, and Linehan is their sacrificial lamb, to deflect. Kate comes from an upper middle class family; her family home IIRC is worth a million and change. Her brother is some high mucketymuck at Apple. She, as you rightly point out, is a lawyer whose high profile gig at the ACLU has gifted her with celebrity status, including attending the Emmy Awards. Unless she has a secret drug habit, she should have no issues paying her bills.

My favourite part about this, is that "identifying" as different race, makes more sense than identifying as another sex. As in, there is White, Black, many other groups in the middle, if one parent is one and the other is different you'll be actually mixed, some have like 5% of a group...

Race is literally a spectrum, and the definitions have shifted throughout history and in different cultures/nations

Yet sex is the complete opposite, everyone has a male father and a female mother, you don't end up mixed, the definition of the sexes holds truth among every human being, everywhere (even in non-human animals), it's not a spectrum, you aren't "5% female" etc etc etc

But despite that, you can't identify as any race, while you apparantly can identify as whatever gender. Ironic.

I remember this from Kevin Gibes, he tried and failed to make the argument that identifying as a different race didn't make sense, "because you are either black or not" while "male and female are not binary, but a spectrum" only to realise how shitty his own argument is, and how it's obviously the opposite
