I would imagine the tiktok clubhouse organization rented out the resort, or a chunk of the resort? It would make sense if tourism is down right now, it would be a way for the resort to host a "bubble" of guests and be safe-ish.

Then I'd imagine the chef is the resort chef. Maybe they paid a bit extra to have the kitchen staff remain for this tiktok takeover (versus a fully booked resort), which would also make sense-- still easier and safer than organizing their own food.

I get the appeal of renting out a "clubhouse" with a few friends, especially if the resort is nearly deserted and you get to feel like the only ones left on the planet. But how did Anna hear about this trip and how did not one of the other travelers at least hint that she wasn't invited?

Truthfully it makes her worse if shes at some resort and not some TikTok Clubhouse thing. Especailly while woe meing about houses.

I’m not super familiar with the Cancun area of Mexico or the state in which it’s located. But in Baja, I can tell you that it makes vastly more sense for the TikTok Clubhouse to exist as a villa rental as needed rather than a permanent location.

Americans can’t buy Mexican property directly, first of all, only a “99 year lease.” There are some workarounds for this but generally it’s a pain in the ass. Then there is the matter of the ejido, kind of a property manager, who deals with your water usage/rights if I recall correctly. (It’s more complicated than that but I can’t speak on it more without doing some research.) Then you have the issues with theft and vandalism of vacation homes and government corruption/glacially-paced bureaucracy. For a TikTok house managed by a off-site parent company or something, it would make more financial sense to just have a relationship with a resort and rent out a detached villa whenever they want to send out content creators for events.

I don’t mean to malign Mexico, I honestly love it there. I haven’t been in several years but all my biggest “faith in humanity restored” moments have taken place down there. Lots of the people there are friendly, generous, and willing to massively inconvenience themselves to offer aid to others. Plus good fishing!

I just think a bunch of out of touch TikTok content creators who are barely out of high school/college would be safer and better off in the playpen of a resort environment.

ETA The birthday girl up there spelled “yacht” as YATCH and I hope that’s how she pronounces it because that’s some funny shit.

A bit late, but the heavier a boat is loaded, the more choppy the ride will be. All the guests were smooshed into the front of the boat, with Anna shoved into the prow. This weighted down the front of the boat terribly, and caused them to take on water when they hit normal sea waves.

I've been on one of those yacht tours in that area; the crews are extra, extra polite and very solicitous. There's no way they'd tell someone they were going to overload the boat, they'd rather accept the risk than offend a guest.

So all those little tick tok kids could have been capsized due to tubbalard Anna needing to be up front and center.

It may have also been that the other TikTokers didn't like her drawing attention to the fact that they ostensibly did not use a resort feature that may have been expected to be promoted.

Like maybe the resort sent the guy down to do breakfast with the expectation they'd all be there posting content about how great it was and when Anna made the post about how nobody was there she was basically like the annoying kid reminding the teacher that she didn't assign any homework.

As an "influencer", she looks so bad in this video. I imagine all the other [much younger] influencers are in cute, well-put-together outfits; nice makeup; nice hair; and putting out curated, professional looking videos even if they are just IG stories / Tik Toks from a phone. Anna is here in some horrendous ensemble, no/minimal makeup, and visibly wasted. Nothing wrong with those 3 things on a regular person's vacation, but it just looks so bad for a supposed influencer who is otherwise trying to present themselves as having their life together enough to shill products. It looks like she's having a fun time, I just don't think it's particularly the sort of content that an influencer is supposed to make public. This is the kind of stuff that is cringe enough to have up on facebook for your colleagues to see.

There are people her age who are good looking and aging well and able to fit in with the trendy 20something crowd but she is not one of them. If she had a magnetic personality, that would make up for some of it but she's so awkward and annoying.
