I think it's a culture shock (for a given value of "culture") to the religious boomers. I'd assume the extent of their social media presence is uploading Jesus videos to their congregation, where that congregation would be generally benign and friendly.

Then you get blitzed by slimy fucks who threaten you with sexual assault allegations, and to most normal people that's shocking, and the natural human reaction is to apologize, duck down, and wait for it to go away. It doesn't help that most people confuse volume for numbers, and seeing three people screeching like they've just been murdered means there's a whole mob.

Hopefully now, they've learned to never apologize, immediately shut down false allegations, and not bend the knee to a hoarde of morally bankrupt pieces of shit.

The attacks on Vic's character are not that hard to understand:

The idea that everybody who defends Vic is somehow part of his fanbase isn't only a lie they tell to belittle anyone standing with him and dismiss their arguments without having to disprove them, it's also a lie they told so many times that they managed to delude themselves into believing it to be the actual truth.

Basically, they convinced themselve that everybody who defend him is his fan. Therefore, they live with the delusion that everyone defending Vic is doing it because they like him. And that's where the personnal attack become relevant: They think that convincing people that Vic is an asshole will make them quit defending him.

It can't be stressed enough how stupid those people are...

I don't get where the asshole part comes from except for Vic not bending to their will and treating them like royalty. If anything, the asshole part is for far removed from the reality of the situation that there are those in ISWV that think that Vic and Ty (I include Ty because he's pretty much limited to what Vic wants to do in terms of legal pursuits) are actually being TOO NICE.

They simply think that painting Vic as an asshole will make ISWV go away because they think people only defend Vic because they like him.
Therefore, they think that if they manage to make people not like him anymore, they will manage to make people not defend him anymore.

Too bad people who defend Vic do it because they think he has been wronged and deserves justice, and not because they're his fans.

My church's youth bible ministry just had a message about cancelling people. Guess what? We can dislike people's actions, we can hate what they've done, we can even feel uncomfortable around them.

But one thing that you can never do is discourage them. You don't cause them to spiral into despair, you certainly lead them to being a pariah, and you don't cause them to stumble. If they ask for forgiveness, you give it to them, no matter how many times they abuse this forgiveness. If all you do is encourage others to persecute a sinner, it would be better off for you to be thrown into the sea while having a millstone tied around your neck.

Luke 17:1-4:
One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! 2 It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin. 3 So watch yourselves!

On a related note, one thing I noticed about how liberals twist the Bible is that they say Jesus was friends with the sinners, so obviously, your church should accept all these LGBTQ+. What they always fail to remember is that Jesus never encouraged sinners. He always said "Go and sin no more." You don't get to be a sexual deviant and be a Christian. You don't get to excuse your sins and say that's what you are.
