Have you considered moving someplace where you aren't at the whims of the local bureaucrats? Things are only getting worse, the longer you put it off the more likely you'll regret staying where you are considered infectious until proven healthy.

Oh absolutely, not to PL but I'm mostly here for work, but if this nonsense continues indefinitely I'm really considering it.

Ontario goes into a 1 month shutdown, fucking morons. Get control of your government leafs!

edit: daily reminder I'm in a open state with no mask requirement and life is back to normal and has been for months. <pokes head outside> still no bodies piled up in the streets. Weird, maybe the coof is anti-science? Send some of your canuckian mad scientists down here to investigate!

I hate you, for real, I hate you and your god damn posts reminding of how much shit Im missing out :cryblood:

Seriously, I wished we had a Wingsofredemption icon with him doing "I can TAKE this shit no more, man!" because thats exactly how I feel about it, especially when I get reminded there are people living normal lives while Im stuck in this socialist nightmare...

We do, most Canadians believe in this shit because our entire identity, from its inception, was flexing about how not-American we are.

Why has that become such a cool thing to do? Why hate the beacon of freedom and democracy? Now, yeah, we know shit aint perfect but people act like their little government and citizens are flawless little angels. Sure sure, but when a crisis happens, suddenly its up to us to fix it and take in the refugees, huh? Suddenly AMERICA aint bad anymore, huh, motherfuckers...?

Forgive the temper but its something that I never got it after a certain point, you can have opinions but when "not america" becomes a bragging right, then one must wonder if there isnt something wrong (and even suspecious) about the whole thing.

edit to add: Study came out recently that the vax provides up to 6 months of immune response and people are already freaking out thinking "IT ONLY LASTS FOR 6 MONTHS OH GOD WHEN CAN I GET MY BOOSTER SHOT??" :story: Holy shit, how do people survive with such poor reading comprehension? "Up to" does not mean "only".

Oh please, stop acting like these people, who were raised on the most basic and generalized educational system ever seen in recent history, would actually use their noodles of a brain and actually think and figure out shit for themselves that isnt literally spelled out for them.

These people arent meant to lead, only to follow and obey.

Day 10000 or so lost count at this point still coof free no signs of sickness. Nobody I know has died from it despite being being cornfed Americans. Vaccine status nope mask wearing haven't worn one in months. Just watched lizard vs monkey in imax while eating a cheese burger and a strawberry shake. Stay safe kiwis

Me: *hasnt seen a movie on theaters since Joker*....But I wanted to watch atomic lizard against big monkeh on the big screen...that cheese burger and strawberry shake should have been mine, damn it! :stress:

And this was another "Handsome Tard slowly losing his fucking sanity" post

I don't know, ask the Loyalists. It's a reflex by now, which is post-hoc rationalised by "muh healthcare" and "we're a peaceful, friendly country unlike those hillbillies down south".

Incidentally, is the American healthcare system actually overpriced garbage or is that just propaganda?

I'd buy you a beer if you ever escaped your branch covidian ran hellhole. Good luck!

The question is will we? Seeing most of those on this forum are of mixed demographic, I suggest that the sentiment from the coof was that it was the biggest propaganda campaign I have ever seen in my life. I've lived through September 11th, Iraq War, Obama Years, and Arab Spring. Those where all campaigns with their own effects, but this was a joint effort between the usual suspects. Get the jab and eat their bugs they say, is beginning to remind me of the sentiment of let them eat their cake. Maybe we can finally cut the head off of this hydra for good, one spergy shit post at a time.

Part I find fascinating to watch about the Rona response has been the unquestioning nature the elites have had to data from China. On social media we could see the sorry state of their quickly made hospitals having water leaking from the lighting and people collapsing from exhaustion, along with strange stunts like having a lineup of people spraying disinfectant along a street like they were spraying for mosquitos. Much of what China did was performative in nature or plain stupid like intubating people that didn't need it. Yet in spite of all this, the elites accepted these performances as being the real way to get the virus under control based on data coming from an authoritarian dictatorship where underlings would be petrified of making their leader look bad or looking bad to their leader.

They seem to accept it for the same reason they imagine the Chinese economy is doing great even with the horrific accidents you can see on liveleaks at their factories and construction projects or even just from how they keep having deranged incidents like buildings made with styrofoam showing how fucked up their society is operating thanks to their economic practices. They accept a consensus that makes sense in their Elite circles and no amount of evidence from the ground matters to them, then they turn around and enforce rules on the peasants based on their belief that the Elite's consensus must be right. It's not that often you really get to see how close knit the international governing bodies are and we really get to see it on full display with the Rona response, as none seem eager to admit that things are under control unless they see it as a political play like with Republicans in the US. I'm betting most major Republicans in the US, including rightwing media darlings like Desantis believe the virus to be this horrific plague and were only willing to say enough was enough and let vaccines mark the end of the panic because they saw what the polling numbers were like.

Depends heavily on the state, and what income level the person is at. For instance, in my state and many other solidly blue states, there is a well run free healthcare system. Im talking completely free visits and preventive care, free prescriptions (to a point), free OBGYN/Dental (obviously doesnt cover cosmetics, like implants),etc. It's actually really good and the only wait times are on the dental side. Ive heard in other states, you have to be close to federal poverty levels (this is starvation wages - something like $2,000 a year or whatever ridiculous number), or youre fucked.

People who pay for insurance get screwed unless it's very good (read: expensive) or provided by their private employer, like state employees. If youre middle class, say 60k a year individual, you can and will get screwed. You have to pay quite a bit to not have a massive deductible (Ive seen people with $10,000+ deductibles). Youre actually better off working a minimum wage job in a blue state and getting state healthcare if youre young and relatively healthy.

If you need intensive surgery, expensive medication, etc. Yeah, youre comically screwed and will likely be in debt for the rest of your life unless youre very well off and/or can pay out of pocket.

Basically, it's a mixed bag

Got the JJ poke last week.
It was me vs family and I'm just too fucking tired to fight.
Felt like absolute death the first morning with the worst joint/body pain of my life and was slightly delerious, which totally wasn't terrifying at all. Thank fuck felt better after sleeping it off but I still feel weak and achy and have 0 apitite. On the period topic that was brought up before, tmi, but I just finished a few days before the poke and I'm feeling a bit crampy and getting pre-period symptoms.

Fuck this shit. I'm still pissed as fuck about it all. Also mildly disappointed in myself for just spreading my cheeks for daddy fauci

I've been avoiding this thread, social media, news, etc bc I am legitimately so fucking tired. I am so....so fucking tired of this shit. But I can't escape it. I'm wearing down and I'm not sure if I can take it anymore.

Sorry for all the venting.

Oh I feel you.
I've been talking to relatives in other States and they are going out there mind with boredom and complaining about not being able to go to restaurants malls movie theaters or concerts. Meanwhile over in the cornfield. I just went to a zoo today with my niece. So she could pet the Giraffes and feed them. It's kinda surreal because we were only under a very short shutdown at the beginning. Now it's like the Wuflu is a foreign problem that exist outside of are bubble.

No, I feel you. I'm having a hard time dealing with this myself and I've been feeling like I'm not able to take much more of it either.

I don't intend to get vaccinated, and I'm worried about my folks getting their booster shot on Tuesday. I'm scared things will never go back to some semblance of normalcy.

I want to try and focus on the things that I still have. Focus on the good things that do occasionally pop up and I want to remind myself that this won't last forever. At some point, something will have to give and we all just need to hold on. I can only hope we each don't lose too much along the way.

Stay strong friend.

It might be an uncomfortable predicament to be in, but let that fire burn and the flames rise inside of you. I don't think these people in charge realize how close they are to radicalizing people.

Oh they do rise a lot. On most days, I feel energized to perform well at my job and to try and form meaningful connections in spite of the "six feet apart" rule. Which barely anybody here follows. I'll be damned if I let those fuckers break me.

My university keeps insisting, "No, really, guys, this time, we are going to open up in-person!" That's what they said last year, too. Then they cancelled it a month before the term started. Yet, every time, my parents are baffled that I don't believe them and refuse to get my hopes up again. :/

Think of it this way, instead of adding 30% more to your tax burden (so going from 20% to 50%) and having all your healthcare managed without your input, upto and including determining when you can get care. You have to pay that 30% directly yourself and get to manage it yourself, including determining what care you are willing to pay for. That's the main crux of what people bitch about, Americans actually see the cost of medical care directly (unless you're on medicare or something). I find the nanny states have no idea how much some of this shit costs or realize how much the US bankrolls the entire pharmaceutical industry.

Truly, I fucking despise the "socialist healthcare" countries.

If the government supplies everyone N95s and gives formal training then it can be effective.

Otherwise stick a paper towel across your face.

Early on we had all sorts of videos coming out showing nurses talking of how people were misusing masks and gloves and so on. Then all vanishes as media hopping on the Chinese idea that masks were a panacea.

We now have an entire generation that will be growing up with memories of the mass panic over a virus with a 99% survival rate. We already see with plenty college kids that they're perfectly fine partying and wondering the fuck is wrong with people, after a couple years they'll be resenting the older generation that forced them through all this.

It's all a bit weird from my perspective since my city pretty much ended the lockdowns and people only do the nonsensical masks occasionally like the 30 seconds to go through the door of a restaurant to a table. I can check out the bars and clubs and see they're often packed now with people that seriously do not care anymore. I don't get how people in places like California or New York so happily watched businesses shutter for good even while the plague wasn't causing people to drop dead as promised unless it was people already on death's door like in nursing homes.

I don't know, ask the Loyalists. It's a reflex by now, which is post-hoc rationalised by "muh healthcare" and "we're a peaceful, friendly country unlike those hillbillies down south".

If you don't have much money for whatever reason then you're kinda fucked. Not strange to hear of people that get minor injuries like cuts that need stitches will end up trying to sew themselves up or using glue rather than pay for the hospital. If you're able to afford visits to the doctor that cost a few hundred dollars then you can go to some pretty nice facilities to get checked up on, but many people don't even have a few hundred dollars saved up for emergencies like that so it can be devastating. Some people will point to how hospitals are often required to treat people, but that pretty much means everyone is already subsidizing the poor getting emergency medical care.

I mean, I'm really not sure how anyone could think otherwise re: the american healthcare system. I'll always remember my friend in Texas talking about a car accident he got in. He hurt his wrist pretty badly and waited 4 hours at the side of the road for a friend to come drive him to the hospital. I asked him why he didn't call an ambulance and his eyes went wide like I had just suggested the craziest thing possible. It was then that I learned that unlike here, where it's an $80 flat fee in my province, that could have been a bill in the thousands.

Our system isn't utopian by any means but I'd be interested to see a comparison of how many people either had health problems go from moderate to emergency level, or just straight up died because of inability to pay/fear of bills vs. the "lack of quality care access"/"wait times" etc that people charge our system with.

To me, I'm not seeing how paying more in taxes is a losing bargain if you pay $0 for emergency/basic services, and *still* have workplace benefits/the option for private coverage of stuff that goes beyond that.

I'm sure the libertarian crowd has their issues with car insurance being mandatory too, but there's so much less vitriol dedicated to that by freedom-lovers at large, despite it being a system where the good drivers who never get in accidents, have to pay for the bad ones who do.
