I don't think a collapse will bring a happy utopia.
I think a collapse is desirable because:
It will give the everyday person a more fair fighting field if things go cattle cartey.
It will erase current mental conditioning of the masses and force people to think in new ways.
It's either collapse now or collapse later. At least if it happens sooner there will be still some resources to build with and ease off eviromental damage the current techno society inflicts on the ecosystem.
