some people in the comments are actually praising the length. They are portraying it like she got canceled and rather than just putting out a thoughtless apology she responded with what they call "a well researched video essay about the origins of the term canceling" (something one comment directly said.)
Its literally like, "to be fair you need a very high IQ to understand a 1 hour 40 minute apology video over a tweet" shit.
These people really do see her as some brilliant academic, for YouTube videos lmao.
Honestly if one had to point to a single fatal sin among the entire breadtube sphere its intellectual hubris. It is never enough to give your opinion or respond to whatever, you have to desperately insist that your intellectual credentials are inherently and essentially higher than anyone else in the room. It is not enough to make a good argument, or even be correct they have to insist the conversation itself is a mere exercise of their untouchable non-existent "qualifications".
They are utterly incapable of speaking to anyone as a peer, only as some kind of teacher.
It is no wonder then that there is so much internal drama when the entire group is made up of people who seriously think they should be fellows at Oxford. It's also why Lindsey in this video thinks her cancellation should be treated differently from others.

On the off chance chance she reads this, good news, a significant part of that is jealousy. Most of the Hugo/SFWA crowd surives off Patreon donations with rare exceptions (NK Jemison has the Macarthur grant and a lot of op-eds, but she was subsisting too before being gifted 3 Hugo Awards) and I mean survives. There is not a lot of money in speculative fiction these days, especially not the kind these people write. A lot of them are barely scraping by, which in an era where rightwing authors like Larry Correia make enough to build a mansion on his own private mountain range, and self published authors can make respectable sums, will never not be funny. Hell, for all the woke authors they doubt, publishers like Tor are kept alive by old/dead/conservative white guys like Brandon Sanderson, Orson Scott Card and Robert Jordan.
So seeing someone who actually makes a shocking amount of money on Patreon who has a YouTube audience and Twitter platform most of these shmucks would cut off a hand for stepping on thier sole claim to success and relevance? They hate her for it.
But the bigger part of it? As she discovered so painfully the other day, she's not woke enough for the in crowd anymore. And she will be crucified for it.
Like I said before, ten years ago, she might have had a chance as a run of the mill basic bitch white feminist. Now? The women of color and LGBT crowd running the asylum now, that are literally still celebrating on Twitter today how few men or white people were even nominated? Well, I watched the whole thing, and it's probably going to get her off the hook. It's very carefully choreographed, but has that tearful """""authenticity"""" that will win her mountains of simp praise.
The most frustrating thing about this video is that she is tap-dancing on the border of self-awareness, but never steps over. Repeatedly, she diagnoses the problem with lefty twitter mobs, but she can't quite bring herself to acknowledge the diseased roots of that culture. She eventually calls out the left for this cancel bullshit, but not because it's a shitty thing to do to a person, no... it's because it's what THE RIGHT WANTS! THEY WANT THE LEFT TO EAT THEIR OWN! No shit, genius. Deep down, she still thinks people on the right deserve this treatment. Truly, she's learned nothing.
There's a moment where she points out "Honest Trailers" made the same comparison that got her cancelled, and no one cared. She makes this big "Hmm, wonder why that is" to imply that it's sexism or something. No, it's because "Honest Trailers" audience is a bunch of twelve-year-olds who don't give a flying fuck about your race-baiting horseshit. Starting with the OG tardstorm of GamerGate, she began to surround herself more and more with self-righteous woke-scolds, and it was only a matter of time before she slipped up. This is like Ethan Ralph being shocked his audience of people who like laughing at drama... started laughing at his own drama! So as you sow, so shall you reap.
And the cherry on this sundae has to be the MovieBob "apology". It's toward the very end if you want to see it but avoid the 1:40:00 of self-pity, and it boils down to "Yeah, he's a total creepy asshole and I was right to call him out, but leave him alone, K?" I gave up about 10 minutes in. She's a smug, insufferable cunt, and I get enough of that on the MovieBob thread without having a bullshit publishing deal rubbed in my face. As soon as she speculated that the bartender only understood cancelled "in the right wing way" I knew where this silliness was going, and what kind of tapdance she was going to do.
I think she's very adept at playing to her audience, and this might save her, but if that deep-down hatred @Boston Brand alluded to exists, it's not going to matter. There's enough self-pity in here for anyone who wants to truly cancel her to go full steam ahead. And in the end, it doesn't really matter what the justification is. If they want her gone, she's gone.

Anybody with PR experience would be slamming their heads against the wall because not only did she made the absolute worst decision to handle this, but the way she structured this will only work if you can buy her bullshit. But if you analyze her wording along with her motives. Then it comes off as hollow, and extremely blatant. She is trying to save face despite the best decision of this WAS DOING NOTHING.
That's all she had to do. But no because we know her narcissistic nature along with the itch of being the one with the last laugh, she had to respond and turn this into a pity party for herself.
