This is such bullshit because she knew full well before this incident as to how hated Bob is by so many different groups of people. More importantly she knew that all of his detractors were aware of his creepy infatuation with her. She knew full well her tweets were going to be used to mercilessly dunk on his fat ass.

The only reason she is walking this back now is that she wants people back on her side. Bob is the perfect simp for her so she needs him.

One of my favorite pieces of literature is Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and one of my favorite films series is the Universal string of Frankenstein Movies from the 30s and 40s, and I really enjoy the Hammer Frankenstein films as well.

In most good Frankstenstein-esque stories, we get to the part where the monster turns on his creator. There is a tragic inevitability inherent to the story, but when it happens, I almost never feel bad for Dr. Frankenstein. Why? Because he made this, he was warned not to, and now he's left to becoming a victim of the very thing he created.

I bring it up because Lindsay was one of those lefty keyboard warriors encouraging cancelling people and all that other shit, and she chose to stick her flag in that camp, even though people like us warned her and others like her that they'd be victims of this mindset sooner or later. Lindsay didn't listen, and sure enough, it happened, and very much like Dr. Frankenstein, I don't feel sorry for her because others were thrown into the fire long before they got to her and she was right there cheering it on when it wasn't her.

The awnser is simple: PEOPLE DON'T LIKE LINDSASY ELLIS.

How fast and vicious the knives came out for this woman pretty much tells the story, people were waiting to kick her white ass, and Lindsay gave the excuse they wanted.

And Lindsay's true tradgedy is, that in a way she can't help it. Ellis has something people call "anti-charisma", something about her make people unconfortable, upset or even slightly hostile against her. We can observe that in a lot of public figures, like Zuckerberg, Ben Afleck or Bire Larson, even if you knew nothing about these people, there is an impression that causes a repulse against these people.

Oh sure, you can point out Lindsay's lame intellectual posh attitude, and other things from her character, but from the very start she had something about her people just didn't like.

She got popular alright, and her video essays hit that sweet spot of making dumb people think they are smarter by watching her, and like it or not, she is good at hitting that audience. I'll give it this to Ellis, she has ambition and goes after it.

But Lindsay Ellis, youtuber personality? yeah, Pewdiepie she ain't, and the more she exposed herself, the less people liked, and it was only a matter of time.

My random internet asshole advice? Keep youself out of social media Ellis, do you patreon videos, and get your books or whatver, but don't be so much in the public eye. Find a small group of friends you can be true with and forget about this fame you want so bad, you have a good life, more than most have, more than most think you deserve.

No, "canceled" is not black vernacular, it comes from when a TV show gets taken off the air. Lindsay is so amazingly insufferable but I never thought she'd try historical revisionism and trying to claim the term "woke" came from black people when the etymology leads to a movie written by two white people.

The most frustrating thing about this video is that she is tap-dancing on the border of self-awareness, but never steps over. Repeatedly, she diagnoses the problem with lefty twitter mobs, but she can't quite bring herself to acknowledge the diseased roots of that culture. She eventually calls out the left for this cancel bullshit, but not because it's a shitty thing to do to a person, no... it's because it's what THE RIGHT WANTS! THEY WANT THE LEFT TO EAT THEIR OWN! These packs of mad dog who can't obtain her level of social status (either for reasons within or beyond their own personal control) are to politically useful when there's a "LITERAL facist in office" and they're easy to stir up and aim at political enemies. But when there's nothing to do, or the enemies are to abstract to be understood (no American Progs actually give a fuck what goes on in other countries), they look for blood somewhere else.

I think it's also interesting how often she tries to obscure her powerlevel; as if she's just a humble video essayist and not the most successful member of what will go down as one of the most important circles of content creators in internet history. Maybe she's small fry in a grand examination of the full media landscape, but within the leftwing/media criticism internet realm, it's hard to imagine that she doesn't have substantial reach if not respect on a content quality level compared to most of her peers.

Lindsay desperately wants to be accepted back into the progressive fold, but now she's facing the reality of the criticism that people have had about these communities for years; that if you're white and not sufficiently queer, you will eventually be kicked out no matter how loyal you are. It seems to be pretty common that white women get just a little too comfortable and flippant in these circles for the comfort of their pet minority groups and they face the cost of being socially cast out.
