Fursuits aren't a requirement. Some suiters feel like it should be but it's unrealistic to expect that when even low end fursuits can be over a grand, high end can be ten times that.

I think he also flip-flops between fursonas too frequently to make it worth it to him, and he seems to only be gratified with purchases of electronics.

We can see how much money and effort he puts into being a woman, let alone a furry so it's little surprise that he wouldn't invest much into furry shit beyond the $20 pieces of "art" he gets from Gneech.

If he got a partial suit (head, tail, gloves, and shoes) his shirt size wouldn't matter, but working around that irradiated butternut squash he calls a head would probably be a pain in the ass. If he went for the full suit (everything I mentioned previously plus a bodysuit) makers ask for what's basically a full body cast made by wrapping yourself in duct tape, but just the duct tape needed to cover his girth would probably cost a fortune before you consider needing enough fake fur to cover a football field for the actual bodysuit.
