edit: I never talked to this NPC so I didn't know this, but I wanted to let you kids know Phil just came across an NPC named "Idle Beggar" who was faking distress by putting a cursed collar on his dog so he could beg for money for his sick dog. One of the dialogue options was "get a job". Phil extorted the man for half his money and the beggar called him a freeloader.

I believe he does. He's a narcissistic manchild who lives a hermit lifestyle and who avoids any and all confrontation, so the only other voice he hears is his own (unless you want to count the wife he barely seems to talk to). He still holds grudges and he's envious as fuck so he'll make any excuse to make himself seem more grandiose and self-important than he really is. I also believe that his lies and comments about being a mature adult are ways for him to justify his own life without having to accept anyone else's criticism.
