What did Contrapoints do when she got cancelled? Made a video exploring the nature of cancel culture, and then went through every criticism launched at her while drinking malt liquor.

Lindsay is a bit jealous of Contrapoints. Contra makes tedious rambling long winded videos, largely about being trans, but at least generally seems intelligent and moderately self aware. She's a lot more relevant to breadtube than Lindsay because she has a grounding in philosophy and doesn't just meme reviews of children's movies, whereas Lindsay has been dropping off the radar among breadtubers over the last few years.

Lindsay was even going to do a collab with Contrapoints over JK Rowling but was too drunk to actually commit to a schedule:


So basically Lindsay thought she'd wholesale lift Contra's video, because if if worked for Contra, it'd work for her, right? The difference is that Contra was never part of late 00s edgy left wing humour the way Lindsay was, so the stuff she looks at are "non binary people misunderstood the point of my video" or "I worked with someone non binary people dislike". She also, in Twitter parlance, "stays in her lane" and so pretty much all the drama is to do with trans stuff and she's trans so that's pretty much fine.

Lindsay meanwhile is looking at dressing up in a burqa or defending yellowface, and she's having to reach for "My Egyptian neighbour said it was ok".

You're right as it's Toddintheshadows and she shows his message with his name in tact in the video. Unless Todd Nathanson is not his name, then people know who he is so that's just stupid. This video is Lindsay at her worst. She is just begging people to destroy her by showing just how hypocritical she is. She was fine trying to destroying Doug's livelihood by lying and taking things out of context, didn't say anything when people went after Brad when he stuck by Doug, but when she gets cancelled by those same tactics and people decide to go after her friends, now she cares because her ass is on the line and her allies. Lindsay Ellis only cares about herself and nobody else. This was a completely self-serving video that can be summarized as "hate mobs for thee. not for me". I hope she didn't cynically make up that rape story in order to avoid people calling her for her hypocrisy of doing rape jokes when she bashed Doug for doing the same because that would be absolutely disgusting and cynical.

Lindsay aged about ten years in two weeks. No doubt she hit the bottle hard by this was the most haggard she’s ever looked. She also has these dead, lifeless eyes as she drones on about her bullshit.

Canceling can take on many forms. Lindsay is going to deal with the woke mob taking over the comments on social media and videos. It’s like we saw with Zoe Quinn when Alec Holowka: she never was formally canceled but when everyone responds to your tweets with “ok murderer”, it stalled her “career” as a professional woke damsel.

The same will happen with Lindsay. The woke mob will just say “ok racist” and we see how paper thin her skin is. Even with nothing getting removed, someone can still be canceled and we see it here. Not sure where she can go from here that doesn’t end up with her running away from every platform that has a comment section, which is nearly everything she has.

I appreciate the joke, but not even close. If it were just for her abortion documentary, she wouldn't have a career to speak of. Everything she has in life was given to her by Doug Walker when he picked her in the Nostalgia Chick contest. He made her. Everything she might have achieved after leaving Channel Awesome was on the back of the popularity she gained then. She needed Doug Walker's reflected glory to grow like a flower needs the sun. And that's pathetic. Never let her forget this. Always call her Nostalgia Chick.

One of the people who dogpiled her was an Asian woman who's upcoming book had something along the lines of "fans of Avatar the Last Airbender will love this!" on the Goodreads page.

She's since deleted the tweets (which were used as the OP of the ReeesetEra thread when this whole situation started) and had the goodreads blurb changed. Wish I archived the shit beforehand, but honestly, I didn't care to bother.

Which is along the lines of what the healthy reaction would've been for Lindsay. Certainly not making a literal motion picture length video.

It's not exactly an apology. The first third is about the history of cancelling/cancel culture. the second third is addressing the issues people had with her, and the last third is lambasting the people who did this and saying that she doesn't care anymore even though she made her longest video to date based on caring what the left and diet nazis bashed her on.
