IMPD responds to mass casualty incident at FedEx facility on Indy’s southwest side

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after multiple people were wounded in an active shooter event on Indy’s southwest side Thursday night.
The IMPD said the shooting happened in the 8900 block of Mirabel Road. This is the location of a FedEx facility. When officers arrived, they encountered an active shooter incident.
Preliminary information from the department indicates the shooter took his own life.
There were several people injured in the shooting. Others were transported to multiple hospitals. Exact victim information was not readily available as of the time of this report.
Police do not believe there is an ongoing threat as of this time. They are asking anyone with family members that work at the facility that they have not been able to get in contact with to go to the Holiday Inn Express located at 8555 Stansted Drive.
FedEx sent a statement regarding the shooting saying:
“We are aware of the tragic shooting at our FedEx Ground facility near the Indianapolis airport. Safety is our top priority, and our thoughts are with all those who are affected. We are working to gather more information and are cooperating with investigating authorities.”
The Indiana State Police says I-70 was closed in both directions between I-465 and Ronald Reagan Pkwy due to police activity in the area. The interstate has since reopened, but there is no access toAmeriplex Parkway from either direction.
We have a crew on the scene. One of our reporters spoke one of the victim’s family members, who says his niece was in her car when a gunman started shooting at her vehicle.
“She called as I was asleep at home. She said there was a shooting in the FedEx. So we just drove from Brownsburg,” said Parminder Singh, the uncle of one of the victims.
Singh tells us her daughter did not know who the shooter was.

Another man tells us that his wife works in the facility. She texted him to tell him that there was an active shooter at the facility.
“My wife works in there and she texted me to tell me there’s an active shooter and we communicated back and forth for a while, she’s since notified me she’s okay,” said Ian Johnson. “After I communicated with her for a while, then it went silent for a while, so I came here just to see what was going on and she texted me I’m okay.”
Johnson said you never think something lik this might happen, but it always can.

Let me get this straight... The FBI can waste valuable time and resources tracking down brainlet tweakers like Smooth Sanchez for shit could have easily been handled by the local DA, but when it comes to schizos openly fedposting with forewarning from family members and co-workers and then following through on mass shootings, they're completely helpless?

Really gets the noggin jogging

Reddit is already blathering nonsense like "let's not name the shooter, or show his face" as if that will help anything.
Name and shame these assholes. Don't let them be anonymous after terrorizing innocent people.
I want to know whose family to ostracise, dammit.

The Coulter Clock is ticking.

"There were a lot of Pakis at the plant. We'll mention that despite not knowing if that was a motivation"
Eat a fucking cock journos. There's a reason you're at the bottom of society's totem pole.

Christ. My relative started working at an Amazon warehouse recently and this could have happened during their shift. I read that Fedex has a policy of no phones allowed during a shift, so the workers couldn't even call for help while trying to get away. I bet they don't allow concealed carry either. These fucking soulless corporations treat everyone like a slave and a child. I don't blame those two guys they interviewed for looking high as fuck.
Funny thing is that FedEx centers have mental detectors on site.

Maybe I’m :optimistic: but I know people who worked at FedEx who said they hire pretty much anyone, including some real loonies. I just hope this turns out that he was just some mental case.

That brown haired witness guy should have been shot for his facial hair, good lord

Gonna put my tin foil hat on a bit about the surge in shootings.

If you ask me. I have to check the yearly mass shooting reports but I think if I remember right that technically one a day is normal (not saying it's a good thing)
The only difference is instead of covering it up, making it a foot note in a paper report or flat out not reporting it at all. They are finally reporting in more noticeable ways.
But thats just me

They really what guns off the market really bad. What better way than to highlight every single shooting to make it appear its bad and you need them taken away? When in reality is more like the police can or won't do shit about red flags they are aware of and feds having the same issues and probably encouraging it. At the same time, news ""journos"" are losing money now that trump is out and they need clicks to live. So if it bleeds it leads.

This situation however I think it was just a mad employee. Those warehouses chew you up and spit you out physically and that can wear on you mentally on the right person.

Trump never cared about gun rights and we had the Paddock shooting and bump stock ban under him.
I don’t think it’s any change in reporting, simply there had been a lull due to pandemic and as things return to normal, so do the crazy shooters.
It’s just a time honored tradition going back to the Bath School House Massacre in 1927.
