I'm still checking the county's COVID updates every day and for the past 3 or 4 days they have mostly been reporting deaths that occured going back to December to the daily death counts. Why are they doing this? The other day they reported over 20 deaths that occurred months ago after "a rigorous review of death certificates". So those should not be included in the "daily" death count. Add those retroactively. Stop misleading people into thinking "20 PEOPLE DIED TODAY!" when they died months ago. It was bad enough when our peak was in December and January and there were dozens of deaths being reported, but everyone thought that meant bodies were piling up even though the deaths actually occurred a week or more prior to the day they were actually reported. If there could be any more sign that the pandemic is close to being over it's that they're digging for deaths to report just to keep people scared.

I might have mentioned it earlier in the thread when it happened, but it's worth reiterating because it's relevant to @Jack Awful's point. A news reporter who is known for covering Michigan's political happenings and doing so in a fairly unbiased way regardless of who he interviews conducted a radio interview of Whitmer one morning. When she stated how "the numbers" didn't justify any easing of the restrictions in place at the time, the reporter asked her what numbers were necessary for that. She immediately bounced and squeaked and accused the reporter of politicizing the issue even though he simply asked the question many in the state wanted (and still want) to know: what numbers/metrics are driving the restrictions, and where do they need to be for the restrictions to end? As you say, the refusal to disclose these numbers or answer evasively seems like a deliberate attempt to keep people in the dark and indefinitely hindered from doing what they want or need to do on a daily basis.

TBH, this isn't too surprising since the current Pope is more liberal than his predecessors, especially with who was invited (Chelsea Clinton, Fauci, and the drug company CEOS).

I don't know much about Deepak Chopra; beliefs aside, he seems like the most appropriate choice to speak to the Pope than anyone else on the list.

The funny thing in all of this is that as liberal as the current Pope is, many Catholic young adults (in the 21-35 age range) seem to be more conservative -- some so much so that they bounce and squeak any time the Pope promotes liberal values or their diocese encourages voters to choose candidates that are pro-union or pro-illegal alien.

I never understood this, either. My observation is that these extra/retroactive cases almost always seem to be discovered and reported when the overall trend in cases and deaths is steadily decreasing. The worst part is that people see the daily numbers that include these adjustments being reflected in the present day (instead of the days they for which the should have been recorded) and and respond with "OMG! Deaths shot up again!" not realizing that it's little more than creative number manipulating.

If this was the financial sector, businesses would find themselves in legal hot water if they incorrectly adjusted their numbers. Government entities updating their COVID statistics, however, can adjust them in a way that further spreads fear, uncertainty, and doubt -- and do so with impunity.

I don't understand this mentality at all. Not yours, @Bosmadden, but that of people who think the "vaccines" are better than getting it naturally. I mean, it makes no sense. We have millions of years of evolution and somehow this is the first disease where technology is somehow better than our natural immunity.
Is this just a lack of education about how the immune system works? I see people in my profession sphere saying things like "I want to boost my immunity." Like, no you don't. That's how we get autoimmune diseases.

The next few weeks are going to be interesting. The number of new infections is stagnating, reaching the mid April peak I expected due to seasonality. Normally, I would expect the ICU numbers and deaths to follow with a few weeks delay, but apparently those numbers are also capping off already. I suspect it's because vaccinations helped the risky groups, and the others, well, they are not really in much danger.
So now the Branch Covidians are trying to spin the lowering median age of people in the ICUs as the sign of the end times, but since we don't have proper statistics about the age distribution I think it's because fewer old people are in the ICUs due to the vaccinations, and with ICU numbers capping off it's reasonable to assume that even the evil variants are not significantly more dangerous to younger people (<60 yo).
The next few weeks will show how this is going, and I think a lot of people doing fancy "predictions" are going to eat crow. They predicted ICUs reaching a peak by mid May, but I think the peak will be reached by the end of April latest. Growth rates are definitely decreasing. Branch Covidians on suicide watch.

In other news, I needed some electrical fuses. So I went inwards to the city to go to the one electronics store that was supposed to be left alive, but no, also seems to be dead. So many closed stores, it was depressing. The economic aftermath will be brutal.
