People have been saying for years how dangerous cancel culture was but you were either called a Nazi or a person who doesn't hold people accountable but now these very people are tripping over themselves to try to explain what they previously stated didn't exist.
What most of the left fails to understand is that life isn't some Saturday morning cartoon from the 1980s, were there is a clear good and bad guy and people are just flawed.
But that doesn't fit their warped Viewpoint of life so they instead double down and Surround themselves in an echo chamber

I almost think these youtube/tgwtg/twitter spergs are almost a entirely different race of beings. I have no ideal how she could ever connect with a real adult with a job that does not have the time to engage in mindless sjw slapfights over silly tweets.

I've never watched any of her videos (I only know her for the stupid shit she says and others make fun of), but trying to give some smart take about Prince of Egypt is just low-hanging fruit. It's a story that even children know and understand.

That's one thing I hate about YouTube and all this "criticism" culture. Every other moron thinks that obsessively nitpicking a story that holds no more meaning than the obvious is a sign of being an intellectual. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I couldn’t get beyond the halfway point. It was the forced laughing that did it for me.

Interesting that she brought up Justine Sacco and Jon Ronson’s interview with her. I actually read the book that came out of it, ‘So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed,’ and she got absolutely destroyed. Not just in the “had to delete her Twitter” sense. Her successful career was obliterated and she had to start over. I would thoroughly recommend that book to anyone interested in the effects of cancel culture.

Incidentally, Ronson also talks about Max Mosley, son of actual fascist Oswald Mosley, who got caught engaging in a German-themed BDSM orgy with a bunch of hookers. Mosley got through it by suing the newspaper that exposed him for libel on a technicality (they said the orgy was Nazi-themed, which it technically wasn’t), and then not giving a shit. Don’t give the outrage crowd what they want and you’ll be fine. Lindsay should have done more research.

On the off chance chance she reads this, good news, a significant part of that is jealousy. Most of the Hugo/SFWA crowd surives off Patreon donations with rare exceptions (NK Jemison has the Macarthur grant and a lot of op-eds, but she was subsisting too before being gifted 3 Hugo Awards) and I mean survives. There is not a lot of money in speculative fiction these days, especially not the kind these people write. A lot of them are barely scraping by, which in an era where rightwing authors like Larry Correia make enough to build a mansion on his own private mountain range, and self published authors can make respectable sums, will never not be funny. Hell, for all the woke authors they doubt, publishers like Tor are kept alive by old/dead/conservative white guys like Brandon Sanderson, Orson Scott Card and Robert Jordan.

So seeing someone who actually makes a shocking amount of money on Patreon who has a YouTube audience and Twitter platform most of these shmucks would cut off a hand for stepping on thier sole claim to success and relevance? They hate her for it.

But the bigger part of it? As she discovered so painfully the other day, she's not woke enough for the in crowd anymore. And she will be crucified for it.

Like I said before, ten years ago, she might have had a chance as a run of the mill basic bitch white feminist. Now? The women of color and LGBT crowd running the asylum now, that are literally still celebrating on Twitter today how few men or white people were even nominated? They have already begun driving out/attempting to cancel white female authors any chance they get. The YA thread in the book forum here actually provides some of the more famous examples.

To this lot? Lindsay Ellis is a rich white lady chasing clout and taking money/views/relevance from them. And they are going to scalp her for it.

Best part is... had she stuck to YouTube, she probably never would have to worry. She wanted to be a legitimate author though... and it will probably be her downfall.

Her worst fear that she won't reveal publicly: becoming like Doug Walker and sinking into the sea of YouTubers with stagnant subscriber counts and an inability to move the needle. And being circled by sharks that'll see any blunder as the signal to finally drive her off the Internet for good.
